(Bottle) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black rye bread, coffee, cacao, burnt sugar, liquorice, hints of tar and some spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, black rye bread, cacao, burnt sugar, tarry hints of smoke, liquorice, dark fruit and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Rounded mouthfeel and very well balanced, with alcohol just lurking in the background. Excellent beer.

Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour are intense with heavily roasted, slightly smokey dark malts. Bittersweet and with lots of chocolate notes. Rich and full flavoured.

Nicely roasted stout. Tiny bit thin, but that isn't a bad thing here. Very nicely balanced.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark copper brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of roast and coffee, with notes of fruit, malt and yeast and touches of cinnamon. Bitter, hoppy and roasty flavour wit notes of fruit and cinnamon and touches of coffee. Hints of spice. Roasty and estery aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Good.

Black, small beige head. Roasted, syrupy aroma. Flavour has roasted malt, syrup, licorice and light coffee notes. Straightforward, not very christmasy (thank you), solid with hints of warming alc in the finish. Quite nice.

Bottle, 9.5%. Roasted, syrupy aroma, coffee, molasses and salt liquorice notes. Almost black colour, seems cloudy. Unstable light brown head. The flavour starts off syrupy and sweet. There is some sweet liquorice at first, later it tastes more like any liquorice. Sweet Gajol finish. Late coffee aftertaste.

Bottle at Gollem, Antwerp. Thickly papery lacing, moussy, bubbly but stable, pale yellowish beige head, very dark burgundy brown, near to black but actually still largely translucent. Aroma of teriyaki, bitter chocolate, beef stock, hazelnut oil, bayleaf, brandy, caramel sauce, black olive, gravy, roasted pine nuts, suggestions of light Christmas pudding spicing. Full but ’clean’ sweetness in the onset, candied fig, dried banana and raisin balanced with a blackcurrant-like sourish undertone and quickly followed by a heavy, beef stock- and dried mushroom-like umami flavour - eventually turning soy sauce-like. Soft, thick but not overly creamy, oily mouthfeel, nutty- and bitter chocolate-like dark malt core, bittersweet with a coffeeish roasted finishing, accentuated by a spicy hop touch and warming, whisky-like alcohol. Very nice.

Thank you Kraddel! 330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF 2017-05-12. Dark brown with a shade of amber, little head. Nose is cheap mocha chocolate, sugar, faint oxidation, basic malts. Bit watery, low metallic taste, vague oxidation, mocha chocolate, nuts, basic sugar. Body is mocha, coffee bit weak. Decent beer but the regular version is stupidly better, definitely expected more from this one.
