Lucky SOB is an Irish Red for those whose lives always fall into place…and also for the rest of us who curse those blessed bastards. Brewed with real four-leaf clovers, it is perfectly poised to bring the “Luck of the Irish” to those who drink it. With a rich amber color, its toasted and honey malt flavors are balanced with a subtle hop bite. Not to mention that its clean and refreshing finish is the perfect accompaniment to chants of “Erin Go Braugh.”

12oz bottle pours a hazy brick red with some thick, off white head which faded fast. Nose is classic red ale, caramel, crackers, some light toast with honey spread over, orange. Flavor is the same, a little flinty, malt, cracker, a little tomato. Medium bodied, crisp finish. Decent.

Crisp deep toffee coloured body with a hint of a ruby tint and a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head - decent looking. Aroma of light malt, some minor sugars and a hint of citrus or fruits. Light-bodied; Sharp creamy flavour with some malt, raisins, nuts, earth and a bit of bananas in the mix - not much going on in complexity though. Aftertaste shows a bit of sweetness with a little nuttiness and earthy flavours. Overall, a decent beer that shows somewhat well, but still not executed flawlessly. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Alexandria (Old Town), Virginia on 06-April-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-May-2013.

Keg at te Rake - London. Pours clear, deep good with a fine, creamy white head. Simple bready malt nose with hints of berries, strawberry. Medium sweet flavor with crisp, dry bready malts, light leaves, hints of dried berry fruits. Light to medium bodied with average, mouth-filling carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, lightly toasted bread, low bitterness, some pectin. I get why people might not like this style. It’s really simple stuff, but still tasty.

Bottle. Toasty caramel malt and light ruity aroma. Clear amber with a moderate off-white head. Caramel malt, toast, and light earthy/rooty hops flavor. Apparently 4--leaf clovers don’t taste green or grassy. Medium body and carbonation.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel color with a large foamy orange head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish cherry, berry and caramel. The flavor was tangy and semi-sweet with faint nut, bread, cherry and caramel. Long tangy nut and caramel finish with some woodiness coming out as it warmed. Medium body. Eh.

On tap at the Bocktown Monace. Nice place. Today the over 40 girl at the bar was pretty freindly but becareful, she has a short fuse. Nice beery aroma. Probably the best of the 3 beers I sampled at bocktown today. In the smell I detect some hints of peach perfume, no lie. Taste is not overwheming. I thought something called an SOB would be quite brutal but ist not. Yes, fairly mild. Has a slight background of slag in there. Slight bitterness subsequently. Not all that bad, yes better than expected, I wonder how they name this? Bitch is a decent thing? Finish is just a tad of bitter medicine. Not bad over all.
