This is the one that started it all. Brewed on the banks of the river Piddle, quaffed in pubs throughout the land. An amber ale with a note of citrus, Piddle is perfect when the only thing you want to take seriously is your beer. This is the one that started it all. The Pigs Ear wrap up tasting at ChrisO’s. Almost clear gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin pale malts, a little paper. Thin dull citrus. Light dry finish. Thin, too dry and dull.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours clear amber with small off-white head. The nose is bitter - sweet, toasty, estery pear, apple pie, spice, candy and honeycomb. The taste is clean toasty, wood, earth, straw, caramel, honeycomb and a touch of orange peel with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Well-rounded and drinks rather easy. Nice one!

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre-Christmas / post-Pigs Ear holiday tasting of 2015 - London. Cheers! Pours clear, deep gold with a creamy, white head. The aroma holds grainy pale malts and light orange peel. Light sweet flavor with more citrus character, light grains, rindy orange, pale bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with modest, dried grains, more orange notes, pale bready malts. A really quite nice and drinkable beer.

500ml of ’Piddle in a bottle’ as it is called in bottle form. Poured into a UK pint sleeve on 5 Apr 2013. Clear, light amber body with a thin off-white covering that turned into a wisp and collar fair to swiftly. Malty and semi-sweet in the nose and taste: caramel ruling those malt flavours, some hop bitterness arrives midway through each sip with a mild citrus finish. Mid body depth, would have liked a bit more richness, but the 4.1% ABV is fine for beer I suppose.

Half pint @ the Half Moon, Windlesham. Pours a hazy amber with minimal head, just a few bubbles atop. Getting malt and a little smoke in the flavours allied to a modicum of yeast and biscuit. Minimal carbonation - a little flat if anything and a very subtle bitterness in the finish. Not one to re-visit !
