Draught at some random restaurant/bar in Tarrytown (on Main St, can’t remember the name) on 12/28/15
Clear, large-bubbled liquid is a bright tangerine color with a small, off-white head that recedes quickly to a ring.
Light citrus in the nose dosent really say blood orange or hops. Could be either, though I guess there is a slightly more distinctive orange fruit note (softer, more lightly sugary than the hops would suggest). Clean with very little in the way of malt and no alcohol noted.
Wet, lightly watery and medium-light to light bodied, the beer nonetheless has a true enough orange fruit flavor and it’s not overdone. Unfortunately, the rest of the beer is a bit drab, showing off grainy, hard malts and just a touch of honey-like sweetness. Light hop bitterness and citric acid sit on the finish. Not sure a pale ale is the right vessel for a blood orange beer....also this beer needs a longer name.

Bottle thanks to Bill! Pours crystal clear golden amber with a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly with some lacing. Aroma is honey, grain, grass, a bit of orange. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, tons of orange and orange zest in the flavor. Light body, medium carbonation. A bit harsh with the zesty bitterness.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours a clear orange with some very thin white head. Nose has a lot of orange peel, some mild key lime too, a hint of sweet malt. Flavor has a lot of orange soda without the carbonation, sweet, citrus, some tangerine too. Watery finish. A bit too sweet, could have used a little more bitterness to round it out.

Drought. Rich yellow with small foamy white head, orange aroma, bitter orange peel taste, low carbonation, long bitter finish with orange peel flavor. Interesting but not great.

Rcvd in trade.
The appearance had a mostly clear golden orange/yellow colored body. There is some light carbonation that is seen rising at a moderate pace. The head is about a finger’s worth with adequate foamy lacing clinging fairly to the glass.
The aroma has a pretty authentic smelling blood orange with a light hop bitterness to balance it all out.
The taste is bitter and a somewhat citrusy maltiness leading to a sweet citrusy sticky aftertaste and finish.
The palate is mostly light, somewhat watery, perhaps this could be a better Summer/Spring beer. There’s a nice sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation is fairly subdued not much of a hint of harshness to commandeer the mouth or tongue into submission.
Overall, hey, I think I like this one, an APA with a genuine blood orange character to it, I’d have it again and wouldn’t mind having on a nice Summer’s afternoon as there’s also a decent refreshing aspect to it.

Nose is toasty malts, apricot, bitter orange, straw, light hop notes. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit malt, blood orange, vanilla, straw, bread dough, sweet licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style.

Tap at Stags Head. pours orange with thin head. Tons of citrus on the nose. Taste is dominated by blood orange I would argue perhaps too much blood orange. you also get some pine and caramel. medium to light bodied and you get sting of citrus on palate. too close to orange juice for me.

Spuyten Duyvil, Brooklyn tap: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is pretty much all blood orange. Taste is also heavily blood orange, but it mixes well with the hops. Hard to tell really where the bitterness comes from. Nice backbone for this beer. Really interesting body.... almost seltzer-like, but adding a nice touch to the dryness and bitterness.
