Aroma røsted malt, kaffe, mørke frukter. Utseende sort med beige skum. Smak sjokolade, lakris, mørke frukter, kaffe, røsted malt. Medium fylde, frisk, fruktig i starten, kaffe i avslutningen. Smakt nov-17

(Bottle) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black rye bread, chocolate, oak wood, dried fruit, coffee, liquorice, vanilla, some Earl Grey tea and hints of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, oak wood, dried fruit, liquorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, light smoke and a balanced roasty bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced, with a good, but not overpowering, wood character. Very nice.
Roast nose with plenty of wood. Coffee, burnt bread, vanilla & charcoal. Light leather & prunes. Sweet, bitter, malty & woody taste.

Bottle @ Bishops Arms, Gustav Adolf. Black with a dark brown head. Aroma is dry, roasted malt, licorice, whisky and wood. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with a little warming alcohol. 281215

Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av choklad, ekträ, vanilj, brunt socker, rostad malt med toner av karamell, lakrits och torkad frukt. Rund och len, lagom sötma, fin beska. Gott!

25 cl. bottle form Systembolaget, poured in to a Snifter. Pitch black with a dense, tanned head. Roasted aroma with whisky barrel, dark malts, caramel malts, oak, dark chocolate, liquorice and smoked notes. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes lasting drying and roasted with oak whisky barrel and dark, chocolate. Very nice oak ageing.

Bouteille 25cl, merci Pierre T. BB 09/2019. Brune foncée, col crémeux moka quais café au lait. Arôme offre un bouquet doux vanillé qui fait bien ressortir le côté whisky sur un rétro malté caramel tout autant prenant. Palais est malté très plaisant avec une belle douceur de caramel, de boisé qui apporte un petit côté réchauffant de whisky avec un ajout de vanille. Le tout est complexe et passe très bien avec ses 8%.

Bottle. Trade with Hackobock. Thanks Jacob. Pours black with a small bubbly beige head. Roast, Wood, ashes and licorice. Smooth and dry roasted finish a touch of Wood. Uncomplicated and tasty.

[4/25/15] Bottle sample at a tasting at omhper’s place in Tyresö. Thanks omhper, AndySnow and hackobock for sharing great beers! Black with a nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, wood, and a bit of fruitiness. Bittersweetish roasty flavor with some chocolate, wood, a bit of whiskey, a licorice note and a fruity touch. Quite full-bodied.

Flaska från SB. Sotholmen Extra Stout är ett i grunden väldigt välgjort öl. Jag tycker däremot inte att fatlagringen märks särskilt mycket smakmässigt. Möjligen har smakerna rundats av och den lite kärva rökigheten mjukts till och smakerna koncentrerats. Så slutprodukten blir ett snäpp bättre utan att någon fatkaraktär riktigt märks. Riktigt gott.
