Saku Tume is Estonia's only strong dark lager, brewed on a combination of pilsner, Munich and caramel malt, as well as burnt sugar. This gives the beer its special dark colour, unique sweet taste and a rich fragrance bouquet.
A characteristic of dark beer is that in order to get a better feel for its taste nuances, it has to be enjoyed at a slightly warmer temperature. Whereas the ideal serving temperature of light beer is considered to be 6-8 °C (straight from the fridge) the ideal temperature for drinking Saku Tume is 11-15°C.

50cl bottle @ home shared with Thompson. Dark brown color with a deep dark red glare coming through. Medium sized beige head that lasts for a decent while. Smell malts, dark malts, sweetness. Taste malts, dark malts, sweetness, lightly earthy, leaves and slightly overripe fruits. Low to medium carbonation and body.

50cl bottle at Daily Special at Stockmann, Tallinn. Pours dark amber with an off-white to beige head. Aroma of caramel and malt with some roastiness and hints of dried fruits. Sweet and malty with a pleasant bitterness and some roasty notes. (2012-11-17)

Bottle. Pours ruby brown with a large head that dissipates quickly leaving some lacing. Aroma is caramel and toffee. Flavor is the same, medium sweetwith light bitter finish. Light chemical aftertaste. Medium body.

Clear red brown to purple beer, big aery light beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, caramel, sugary, chocolate, some mocha, some (red) dried fruits, banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: some caramel, chocolate and mocha, banana, bit of dried fruits. Aftertaste: bitter, caramel, banana, bit watery.

20oz pour at "Grandmother’s Kitchen" in Tallin. Pours a clear, pumpernickel brown with some thin, eggshell head. Nose is standard for a dark lager, bread, yeast, malt, light honey. Flavor is similar, honey, dark bread, chestnut honey. Medium bodied, lightly sweet finish. Fairly standard.

Bottle thanks to FatPhil. Cheers my friend. Very dark ruby colour with thick beige head. Some sweetish malts in the flavour. Drunk it with some rotisserie chicken. Yes, some decent malts, touch of milky choc. It’s fine. Nice enough drinkable strongish beer.
