375ml bottle into schooner glass. Light caramel nose. Amber beer with diminished head. A few bubbles. Watery mouthfeel with abrupt sour malt finish. The blurb on the bottle is describing a completely different beer to what I’m drinking, something wrong here. Blurb or beer?

Not to be confused with that other Tasmanian lager, here is a Tasmanian lager whose main selling point is that it’s a lager from Tasmania. Terrible orange body with no head and an aroma of lemon-soaked particle board. The flavour is a nonexistent mess of water and adjuncts with a horrendous aftertaste of burnt rubber, AKA hops badly brewed with. Worse than just a useless lager, this stuff is actually offensive to the palate.

330 ml bottle. Golden body with a white head. Aroma is malt and grain with a hint of citric hops. Flavor is light malt, apple fruity and a bit too sweet, almost like sweet cider kind of sweetness. Not much bitter, thin body and short finish. Fooled by the name.

Pours gold with a small sudsy head.Aroma is faint with grainy malt and subtle grassy hops. Grainy malt is quite dirty really.Flavours include a fair bit of malt surprisingly, slight grainy, somewhat bready. Faint grassy hops also show, finishing with a restrained bitterness.Too much carbonation. Much too much. Ridiculous.

Light yellow. The aroma is appley and maybe with a hint of bread. Bready taste. Light spicy hops - no bad balance for a macro. Sure it’s sweet and bland, but it’s balanced and drinkable.

375ml bottle. Pours pale gold, two fingers of white head. Aroma is of mild sweet malts. Medium bodied and quite bubblegum sweet. A little skunky at the end. There’s not that much wrong with this, it’s just dull. I seem to recall this being quite a bit better, but there you go.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Pours a clear golden with a white head. Lightly sweet malt aroma with a whiff of aroma hops. Medium body with sweet malts and a touch of cardboard. Lightly hoppy finish. Getting a bit nostalgic here as this was my favourite brew when I visited Tasmania in 1988. But either my palate or the beer has changed since then - probably both. 210108
