Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2011. Pours a black color wit ha small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocoalte aroma. Roasted malty chocoalte and caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty chocoalte finish.

Cask at Craft Beer Co. It pours dark brown, with a thick, fluffy beige head and soft carbonation. The nose is spicy, brown bread, leather, tar, smoke, burnt toast and sweet toffee. The taste is charcoal, burnt toast, caramel, leather, tar, dust, wood, bitter chocolate and red chilli pepper, with alcohol warmth in the finish. A way above average, flavoursome cask stout.

Cask @ Old Mill, Brodie. Appearance - extremely ruby dark brown-black with ruby edges on glass. Yellowy rich creamy head. Aroma - Roasted malt, dark chocolate, slight hint of coffee. Texture - Milky smooth consistency. Taste - Roasted malt, dark chocolate with a little milk (!). Smooth roast malt chocolate finish. Sublime indeed! An interesting stout which is less bitter than usual for the style. Not as complex or as rich as some stouts, but this doesnβt distract from the quality of this brew.

Bottle at home ... thanks to Ashton ... deep black... bubbly off white head ... soft light malt roast .... dark roast malts ... little chocolate ... hints of roast coffee ... light bitter finish ... quite nice... 3.9 cask at bow .... deep red ... thick tan creamy head ... soft sweet fruity chocolate roast nose ... smooth body ... light richness ... dark roast ... quite a lot of pine hop ... 4.0cask at cloisters ... deep red brown ... thin tan head ... soft toffee roast ... dark cherry roast nose ... dark malts ... chewy ... dark roast ... quite a lot of pine ... soft malt ... very nice 4.0Keg... Well its cracking but palate is definitely wrong. Who would have guessed. Too fizzy.. Deep black thin tan head... Soft chocolate roast nose... Dark malts... Deep roast.. Light pine.. Tiny charcoal hints.. 3.8 and the loss is down to the fizz blind cask at the bow 2014...deep black .. thin tan lacing ... dry bitter chocolate roast ... light pine nose ... dark malts ... light charcoal ... soft chocolate ... sweet roast ... ligth pine chocolate ... almost a black ipa 3.9 Keg blind at fyne fest 2017... 50cl bottle. Pours opaque very dark brown - there are lighter brown hues around the edge of the glass. There is a generous cappucino head, some of which hangs around until the end of the beer. The nose is pine, grapefruit pith and the coffee and chocolate flavours come through after. The taste is more on the dark chocolate and coffee side, but the pine and grapefruit pith builds and comes through at the end. The palate has medium to big structure, a very creamy texture and then there is a long refreshing finish - this is near to perfect on the palate, though perhaps if Iβm to be a little critical Iβd have liked the zingy finish to start a little later and I would have slightly ramped up a little bit. Overall, this falls somewhere between a stout and a black IPA in style but itβs so drinkable, in fact, dangerously drinkable.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Opaque brown pour with a thick, beige head. Dark, semi-hard chocolate malts, some dry, roasted cocoa beans. Wonderful flavor, full and rich. Tons more cocoa and roast. Light sugars and charred wood. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation and slight warmth. Tons of roast in the finish, mild minerality in the malts, some sweet, dry cocoa. Just superb.

On tap at the Euston Tap. Good creamy tan head. Light semi soft and semi dry palate. Very light and mild dark malt. A little sweet fruit underneath, cherry and other red fruits. Very mild minerals. Interesting stout - more fruit than dark malt!! Nice though and very east drinking. Finishes soft and semi dry. Nice!

Half pint, hand pulled cask at the splendid little pub called Kayβs Bar, Edinburgh. Beige head that stays well atop of a mahogany coloured body. Fine lacework to the glassware. Aroma of spiced chocolate malts. Perfumed impression of the flavour that brings a kind of lightly spiced malts along with a touch of dark fruits. Enjoying bitter notes on the swallow. Good drinking, 28.11.2010.

Cask @ Guildford Arms. Black colour, foamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, well hopped. Flavour is roasted malts and fruits. Fairly bitter. Superbly drinkable.
Rerate: cask @ 3 Judges. Nose has coffee and some sourness. Flavour has lots of coffee, little wine sourness. Medium bodied. Great stuff. +.6
