Thin head on top and a clear yellow-gold body like a bad lager. Aroma is lemon flavoured cleaning detergent, but not quite - in fact perhaps more like your sister’s bathroom if she has been using lemon hair products, or lemon Pledge..... you get the idea. Flavour is perfumy hops with a lemon finish, and enough carbonation for it to evaporate on your tongue. Very light that way; and when taken in a certain light it wouldn’t be so bad, but most of the time, sadly, it would be.

Originally rated November 2004. This is the newest beer from this brewer in a long time. Not being a fan of Boréale, I kind of hesitated. But a fan of witbier I am. Poured a cloudy golden-white colour with a beautiful thick white head. There is a good amount of lacing. Aromas are herbal and fruity. The taste is of ginger mostly with hints of honey and citrus. This is definitely not Unibroue’s Blanche de Chambly, but I find it still amazing because of the spices. Heavily recommended.

Draught pint at le divan orange in Montreal on 1/26/07
Medium-sized white head slowly dissipates to partial-cover and then ring, leaving marginal lacing. Bubbly, pale-gold liquid is mostly clear and has light peach-copper hues throughout.
Pleasantly and not overly spiced nose shows dry coriander and white pepper-like notes. A zesty almost tangerine juice-like note takes on the lemon/orange-zest portion and right there you’ve got a good portion of the aroma. Unfortunately, Boreale’s house all-purpose yeast dosent provide much, if any, excitement. Not a true wit yeast and it really shows. Granted, it’s quite clean and you can’t fault that, but it’s just rather tacky. Nutty, dry, and only mildly estery at best. So the aroma falls mostly on the spicing. At least then, they know to do that with reservation. Medium aroma strength, but in a crowded bar from an English pint it was still easily sniffable.
High carbonation, rather obtrusive, picks apart an already highly attenuated body with orange, lemon and peach notes laced all throughout. White pepper and just a touch of honeyish sweetness provide most of the flavor with a soft herbal, hoppiness that keeps things gentle despite the overdone carbonation. But rather boring, overly clean yeast gives it more of an American wheat beer with Belgian spicing feel. That’s ok, I’m not going to fault them for the yeast they use. The important thing is that it’s clean, well-attenuated and drinkable. Maybe a bit too peppery and slightly seltzery/carbonic on the end.

An unclear light yellow beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet with strong citrus and wheat notes. The flavor is sweet wheaty and very spicy, combined with notes of coriander and lemon. There is nothing wrong with this beer - it is jus average.

Bottle: Poured a white yellow ale with a thin white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma is dominated by ginger, which is a bit surprising for a witbier. Taste is also dominated by ginger thought I can still taste the wheat and some subtle coriander. Very refreshing beer that I will appreciate better comes summer. Probably doesn’t respect the style limitation of a witbier but still enjoy this quite a lot.

Bottled .. White beer with a fair white head. Sweet aroma of vanilla and fruits. Very nice fresh wheaty and biscuity taste with a touch of lemon , but rather light. Great summer beer for those hot Montreal nights. I agree with Beerbuzz, its better on tap.
