Bottled 355ml. -from big Carrefour in Sorocaba, Brazil. Darker amber coloured, small off-white head, no trace of smoke in the nose. Sweet malty, some caramel, and mild smoked ham with notes of hops in the finish. Pretty light one but not bad at all.

Bottle. Pours orange, with a light creamy head. Aroma doesn’t really have much about it, but there’s a small note of roasted malts. Flavour is a buttery caramel. A rather fresh beer, but nothing here really resembles smoke very much at all.

Bottle at Delirium Ipanema. It pours cloudy brown, with a thin off-white head. The nose is smoky, smoked meat and some caramel. The taste is only lightly smoked, caramel, dark fruit, umami character and alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle, labelled Eisenbahn Rauchbier. 8C - couldn’t go with the recommended 4-6. Caramel, beige head. Nice smoke aroma - there’s real seasoned wood character. Some candied pork belly too. Tastes much like it smells. There’s just a little sweetness and no bitterness. Pretty convincing brew.

Pours a fizzy copper/brown, cloudy body - nicely smoky aroma, with some meaty character to it - some burnt sugars in the nose as well - creamy body - a bit sugary sweet - the beechwood smoked malt it tasty, but not strong enough to every completely rise above the sweetness - some toasted marshmallow/campfire kind of character - some decent qualities, but overall simply too sweet.

Deep copper coloured body with an orange glow and a very thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, malt, blood, peat and even smokey raisins. Medium-bodied; Very potent smoked malt flavour with sugar, alcohol, apricots and caramel present, all with strong malt overlays. Aftertaste shows more smoke than anything else, but some of the malt comes through near the end. Overall, a very true-to-the-style beer, definitely showing a lot of smoked peat, some good caramel and a couple of lighter fruit tastes. Definitely good to try, especially if you like the style! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida on 15-February-2009, sampled at home on 08-June-2009.

Bottle. Small, white head atop a light bronw/copper body. Light, malty sweet aroma of caramel and toast. Not much else, including smoke which doesn’t show up until you taste the beer. The flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It fnished sweet with a note of smoke taste. Medium body with a velvety texture. Lively carbonation. Too bad this beer is so weighted toward sweetness because the smoke is pleasant and not overpowering (no bacon notes here). A little more bitterness would have helped. Nonetheless, it’s a drinkable beer.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one at his Februmergency Tasting. This clear, dark amber brew sits under an average-sized, fleeting, off-white head. Sweet, smoky malt aroma. A bit sweet, but smooth with some depth. Nice smoky notes. Not great, but considering it’s origin, it surprised me.
