Bottle at home. Now over three year old bottle. The colour is slightly hazy reddish brown with a beige. Sweet aroma of cognac, oak, dates, plums, liqueur, caramel, alcohol and heather. Heavy sweet flavour of caramel, wood, rum, alcohol and brown sugar. Has a slick and sticky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Tasteful and heavy ale. A little unbalanced and sweet but solid.

Tasty and unusual evening sipper. Looks ok. Almost black with a fine beige head. Cognac and oak in the nose. Smooth carbonation level and well masked alcohol. Cognac, wood, Belgian yeast and toffee in the flavor.

750ml bottle topped with a cork and a wire cradle, Cloudy red-brown body under a fawn-coloured head with good duration. Spotty lacing. Rich and inviting smell of vanilla caramel and oak. Taste of dried fruits, oak vanilla and caramel with a backdrop of cognac. Lingering aftertaste of apricot. Full bodied. Tasty stuff, just a little too sweet in the long run (shared with Finn and djoeye at a rating session in Tromsø 28.07.2016).

Bottle split at ABC Beer The Hague, 24/09/2015. Thanks. Readdy caramel coloured pour with a lasting off white head/ Aroma is sweet apple, caramel, toffee apple, grainy, some little solvent hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of nutty apple, solvent caramel, musty sourness. some warming alcohol. Palate is medium sweet, highish carbonation. Not a fan of this.

750 ml bottle. Almost clear reddish orange body with a small, fast disappearing beige head. Aroma is fruity, caramel, wood, hint of vanilla, dry fruit and cognac. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel and dry fruit with some kind of dry woodness and warming alcohol. Not bad, but I really don’t get a hold on it, feels a bit plain somehow even if it’s rich with flavors. Might be a feeling of tasting something out of balance and clear direction.

Pours clear brown, small white head. Smell is sweet, malty and some oak ( and cognac) characrteristics. Taste is weak, very watery. Not much taste at all, and very thin as well. 11 ABV, but all you get is some notes of cognac and oak. The basebeer was way too weak to make a sufficient beer for barrel ageing treatment. It’s not bad tasting , its just... not tasting ?

Thank you tderoeck! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ “Tim’s Christmas Tasting”. Dark amber, fading mocha bubbles. Nose is sweet yoghurt, oddly milky, touch alcoholic, sugar, strawberry,… Taste is weird boozy overripe alcoholic fruit, yoghurt, milky, sugar, candy, overripe fruit, oak,… Yoghurt body with a touch of jam. I liked the the regular one & the Port version was decent but this isn’t for me, the yoghurt note is way to big for me coupled with some strange strawberry note, odd one.
