Cauld Reekie pours opaque black with a brown foam. The nose is full of malt, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The taste is full bodied and velvety smooth with an abundance of roasted malt flavour and a touch of sweetness.

Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a large nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with sweet liquorice notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also a mix of sweet liquorice notes with some light roasted malt notes and sweet chocolate notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable stout though on the sweeter side of the style.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear dark mahogany with a small khaki head that fades quickly to a sheet. Dark chocolate and coffee with some dark fruit and hints of vanilla. Light sweet molasses with a medium- bitter chocolate main course with a slight metallic tang. Medium+ creamy mouth with soft carbonation and a dry finish.

Pours a hazy dark brown colour with red highlights. Nice frothy beige head, good retention and creamy lace. Beautiful aromas of cocoa and vanilla at first. Then some hops show up a little. Smooth roasted malt taste with some mild hops in the finish and hints of dark fruits. The chocolate is mildly there with the vanilla in the background. A smooth stout on one side, but some decent hops to add some bite to it. Quite nice overall !

This stout poured a deep black colour with a nice brown, creamy head. Scents include smoke, roasty malts and caramel. First swig was nice and smooth with flavours of roasted malts, smoke and cream. Finish is nice and burnt with roasted flavours lingering.

Hand-pulled cask ale, half at Alexandra Hotel. Shiny naked surface to a jet back body. Aromas of mid-sweet dark malts. Blended flavours of dark fruits, dark chocolate, and liquorice. Prolonged ending of dark malts and fruits. Smooth on the swallow. Vivid stout (Derby 22. 02.2015).

Bottle shared at the DOS tasting thanks to Sic1314. Pours dark brown with a thick beige head. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, light coffee and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
