A black IPA with a light creamy tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts with hints of gooseberry. It is hopped with Nelson Sauvin, coffee notes round out the beer to give some great flavours. More of a west of Scotland balance to the IPA than a West Coast USA balance, and we think it works really well.

Sanda gets its name from the Sanda lighthouse, located off the southern tip of the Mull of Kintyre in southwestern Scotland.

Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell 1 Nov 12. Ultradyprød. Lavt skum. En bra, litt røstet & fruktig aroma. Smaken litt fjøs med en svakt syrlig ettersmak.

Half pint, cask, shared with Finn at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Deep, dark brown body. Bubbles to the rim of the glass. Malt-fruity aroma, lightly roasted. Dark grapefruits mixed with mild roasted malts to the taste buds. Nice coffee bitterness to the finish. Pleasant (London, 01.11.2012).

Cask at Craft Beer Co. It pours deep brown, with a medium beige head. The nose is ash, tar, pine, some caramel, roasted malt, charcoal and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, tar, coffee grinds, a touch of dark fruit and pine, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well balanced and rather drinkable.

On tap @ the Harbour Bar, Kirkcaldy. Pour black with a small but lively looking head. The nose has pine and grapefruit. The taste is really good - chocolate in the background with grapefruit at the front and a liquorice, possibly fennel note in between. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a lovely clean finish - great balance which reminded me a little of Stone’s Sublimely Self Righteous. Overall, a lovely ale.
