Cantillon Crianza Helena is a gueuze bottled in 2008. It is a blend of 40 month lambic from a new cognac barrel, 30 month lambic from a bordeaux barrel (for sweetness), and a 15 month young lambic. It is labeled as 5% ABV.

This gueuze was bottled on behalf of the owners of De Heeren van Liedekercke to mark the occasion of the birth of their daughter. Both 37,5cl and 75cl bottles were available for on-site consumption at the restaurant and 75cl bottles were also available for takeaway. Cantillon provided De Heeren van Liedekercke with unlabeled bottles; the label design and it's application was performed later.

Little cloudy dark blond beer, aery white head, unstable, falls down to a small layer. Aroma: very soft bretta, peppery, some citrus touches, bit dusty, traces of paint. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: a little bitter first, fruity notes, grapefruit, lemon, yellow summer fruit (nectarines), sour green apples. Aftertaste: unripe nectarines, soft tartness and a little bitter.

Courtesy of Dak. Pours hazy gold with thin white head. The aroma is tart and moving quickly into nice and funky hints of earthiness and damp musty barnyard. I love the moldy dank funkiness of this. The taste is straight up tart with hints of fruit, funk and acidic notes flowing into the finish. Where’d the bold earthy funkiness that was so forceful in the nose go?

Ausgewogen. 11/12/9/11/12/11

Bottle at DHL with Mes. Pours a lightly hazy gold, effervescent, with a foamy white head. Dried sweaty socks on the nose with sour, musty grass. Lightly sweet with a bit of honey and tons of grass. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation. Crisp, sharp dry finish, with earthy and grassy bitterness on the back of the tongue, and some tangy sour notes throughout. Great stuff.

2008 Bottle via a trade. Rating number 5000! Pours with a hazy golden-yellow body with a large and creamy white head that lasts for quite some time (great retention in fact!). Lacing clings to the glass with each sip. Aromas are first and foremost sour. Incredibly spicy wood aromas. Fruity, tannic, white wine and acidity. Iron (minerallity), pencil shavings. Wood profile is extremely spicy, cedar, tobacco, cigar humidor, funk (Brett L, barnyard), wet leaves and a lemon like acidity from the pedio. Minimal acetobacter. Huge acidity on the tongue. Flavors are a melange of complex spice and sour notes. Staggeringly complex. Tobacco, pedio, pineapples, wet leaves, oak, humidor, sage, cedar. Light carbonic bite. Lively and bright carbonation, dry, tannic but feels creamy. Great acidic and complex finish. Exceptional!

Bottle 750ml @ fonefan
[Courtesy of fonefan] Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is the regular Cantillon aroma, but not as intense as the 100%. Taste is medium to heavy sour with a very dry and sour finish. Body is full, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is fizzy.
