Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke, shared with Anke and Pieter.
Pours hazy dark brown with a huge, frothy, tan head. The aroma contains roasted malt, caramel, licorice, spices, hops, some coffee & chocolate. It tastes medium to heavy sugary or caramel-like sweet and light spicy bitter. Medium to full body, slick (bit sticky) texture, soft carbonation. Your typical sweet, dark Belgian Ale. Say what you want, though, I liked it.

From a bottle: Brugge Beer Festival, 2nd Feb 2014. Poured a deep amber brown colour with an off-white topping that did not hang around long. The aroma and taste were both a little sweet, with the malts ruling the roost, some mild chocolate notes but not a lot going to really. I had tried some big hitters during the session and this was both weak and uninteresting compared to many others on the day: sorry Danny, it wasn’t great.

Danny’s second, with off-white, sticky head and murky bronze colour. Aroma of nutty and caramelly malts, sweet tobacco, leather, nutmeg, pear; subdued fruitiness, caramel malts, dryish, thin mouthfeel and little complexity, some leafy hops and something toasty in the finish. Could have been a lot better.

Tastes of inctection, bitter leaves, candy sugar, BE yeast, bitter thyme, spoiled fruit, bitter herbs, bark. High carb. as in infected beer, med. body. ANother infected disaster from this brewery. Even the 15 cl. I had was very hard to drink. Lots of people at the festival seemed to adore this complete.....???
