Brewing a beer style from the Zenne valley in Emelgem? St-Louis Kriek Lambic proves that it is possible! This cherry beer is made on a lambic base and contains the juice of Oblacinska cherries that have been steeped in gueuze for six months. This specific preparation results in a fresh beer with the sweet taste of cherries. This cherry beer tastes mainly sweet with a hint of sourness from the fruit.

Dunkles rot im Glas, Kirscharoma, soweit alles wie versprochen. Im Trunk feine Säure, nicht krachig aber irgendwie etwas böckern. Dennoch ein schöner Ausgleich nach fettem Essen zum absacken.

[9/27/16] Bottle on a street bench in Brussels. As Vieux Bruxelles Kriek Lambic. Clear red color. Aroma of candy-ish cherries, marzipan. Sweet flavor, quite sugary, slightly tart, with cherry candy. Too sweet, but OK.

250ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Deep red colour with a pink foam head. Aroma of sweet dark cherries. Taste is sour cherry, sweet sugary, berry, almond, with some straw notes. Light to medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry tart finish. Quite OK.

Keg @ Bridge Bier Huis, Burnley. Deep red with a head. Has a sweetened cherry flavour that lingers, with a more pronounced nose.

Bottle @ Estaminet de la Longue Croix, Hondeghem, Belgium. Pours vivid reddish pink, small bubbly pinkish white head. Aroma is artificial cherries. Taste continues with a chemical sweetness and no real tartness expected of a lambic. Very light.

25cl bottle. Pours a clear crimson colour with a small slightly pink head. Aroma is very much cherry, although a bit artificial, still nice though, don’t detect much of anything else. Flavour is also strongly of cherry, very sweet like a syrup, a bit of malt, some sourness in the finish. Not too tart. A nice drink.

Donkerrood bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is fris zoetzuur en frutiig, kriek is dudielijk aanwezig en gen vreemde bijsmaak. Best goed.

19/XII/15 - 25cl from ... (I don't know, I was just happy to finally get my hands on it, seems to be rare in Belgium, everywhere it's replaced with the "premium kriek") @ home - BB: I/2016 (2015-1734)

Clear copper red to rusty red brown beer, creamy aery off-white to dirty pinkish beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, cherry candy, bit funky, lemony touch. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, lots of cherry syrup, sourish touch as well, some real lambik funk underneath all that sweet violence. Aftertaste: lemony, candy, sugary, bit funky.
