Deep dark brown coloured body with a large, three to four centimetre tall tan head that stays afloat nicely. Aroma of toasted malt, grain, big beefy yeast with a lot of bananas and spice elements and a dry note of nuts and earth with seemingly a good deal of caramelised sugars and sweetness at the end. Medium to perhaps Full-bodied; Strong malty and deep robust grainy flavours show at first with a lot of the yeast and spice notes right behind along with some vanilla and slight creaminess, but the sweetness is a bit harder to coax out with only a touch of toffee and raisins battling through the deeper malts and especially the yeast. Aftertaste shows a nice and robust earthiness that's dry, but relatively easy-going with some nice spice complexities ranging from anise to cloves and with some of the banana towards the end - the alcohol is hidden pretty well, as expected, due to the age, but still showing some and the sweetness, while mild, is also here as well of course. Overall, a nice and robust dubble that's made from perhaps two of the best known (from either coast) breweries that combined well to make a Belgian traditional beer. While this wasn't my favourite, thus slightly underwhelming, due to the two giants here, it was a respectable beer that was nice to sample, but perhaps not worth aging as much as I did, nor bringing it out for a special occasion. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Corne Store (Bait & Tackle) in West Palm Beach, Florida on 30-December-2013 or US$14,99 when I only had one kid who was just over a year old, now sampled at my house on Christmas Day 2020, 25-December-2020 here in Washington with my family (including three kids, all older than 3) getting ready to head back down to Southern Florida in less than 20 hours.

Bottle. Murky orange-brown body, thin beige head. Odd nose with notes of pear, white grape, cider, and raisin swirled in rubbery phenols. The body reminded me of Pannepot, with layered toffees and caramels, but with the weird phenolic off-flavors.

A hazed dark amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, loads of butterscotch, treacle, candy sugar, light curacao, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with candy sugar, light curacao, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. Bottle.

Bottle thanks to jcartamdg shared at Anchorage Apr ’15 Tasting: Poured coppery with off white head. Aroma was candy, sugary, dark fruits almost like a jam. Nice sweet candy, date and fig presence, nice high boost of alcohol.

Bottle, sent my way by Homer - thanks! Pours hazy hazel in color, small off-white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is caramel and toffee up front, with cocoa, figs, and rain. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, caramel, figs, a touch of rum, spicy yeast. Lingering, kind of harsh, bitterness on the palate. Medium body. Pretty solid effort.
