With a blend of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops, Budweiser Black Crown is finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for a smooth, balanced taste. Incorporating the proprietary yeast directly descended from the original Budweiser yeast strain used by Adolphus Busch in 1876, Budweiser Black Crown retains the key characteristics of Budweiser with its clean taste and high drinkability. Featuring more body, color and hop character than the flagship lager, it also has a slightly higher alcohol content at 6% ABV.

So this is supposed to be the Batch 12 winner rebadged etc., but the Batch 12 I had was nice, earning a 3.6 rating: Poured a dark almost copper color, fully rocky head. Nose and flavor were rich with caramel-toffee malts, though it didnβt quite get to the level of vienna lager because it was all caramel malt. Balanced finished. Could have been really nice but I could really taste the green apple acetaldehyde. Black Crown rating: It was basically Bud Ice, sickly sweet grains, acetaldehyde, gross. I have trouble believing its the same beer.

Mild barley nose. Amber, medium head with little retention. Flavor of plastic and buttered popcorn toward the end. No worse than Bud Light.

12oz bottle. There is something incredibly enticing to macro breweries in the US. What is it? Amber Lager. Filtered orange tan, thin creamy white head. Creamy, malt centered,,,even mentioning hops is misleading, not even a respectable balance. Sessionable, a touch of vanilla. Not outright bad, but in no way good either. Soulless.

Ha ha, whoever said this was a dark lager is pretty funny. This is simply a pale lager that is a little darker yellow, no big dark lager thing happening here. Yes it does have a beauty of a pour from a twist off bottle; all creamy foamy and stuff. Smells like good lager beer that comes right out of the tap. Nice lacing and there is a tad of creamyness in the co2, what little there is. Goes down fairly smooth, no ill ale things in this stuff. Refined, hides its 6% rather well. Fine, reserved and gentlemanlike. Easy to enjoy for a lager lover. Overall impression is not bad!

12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a clear amber color with a thin fizzy slightly off-white head. Poor head retention. Aroma of mild herbal hops, pale toasted malts, some graininess. The taste is grainy malts, banana, herbal hops, faint toast. Medium bodied. A little different for Bud, a little on the weird side.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine West Richmond, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized foamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of...well... not much.. Faint grainy malts, very faint caramel. The taste is caramel, grainy malts, mild hop finish. Medium bodied. Thankfully it tastes better than it smells.

Just a bit of orange in the color and a small head. Lightly sweet aroma of malt and fruit. Thin, smooth body. Flavor is light but its lightly sweet malts, a bit of fruit and little else. Dull but I can't say it's bad. Just very, very dull.

Crisp amber coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pale malt, alcohol and a hint of caramel - not much going on at all. Light-bodied; Creamy alcohol flavour with a hint of caramel and toffee with a mealy earthy flavour and not much else. Aftertaste shows some oak and perhaps a light grassiness, but not much more than caramel and cardboardie malt. Overall, a pretty disapointing beer, but that was to be expected - not much going on here and nothing worthwhile to search out for. Nice to sample as Iβve never seen this before, but not a great beer of course. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 12-December-2012 for US$0.98 sampled at home in Washington on 20-December-2012.

Pours a deep golden amber color with a quickly dissipating off white head. The aroma is sweet and malty with a grainy honey like caramel nose. I found little to no hop aroma. The flavor is sweet and does have a bit of caramel and light sugar in there. Thereβs just enough spicy hops to keep this from cloying and to keep inbev from spending any more money on hops than is absolutely necessary. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet almost sugary mouthfeel. Too sweet and a bit boring.

Bottle: Poured a golden to light amber colored with a fast dissipating white head. Aroma is malty and grain. A nice grain and malt mix, not as bold as the description but very drinkable.
