Provides a floral and herbal character that balances the refreshing German Kölsch style. A classic Kölsch is less bitter than a pilsner with a slightly fruity and sweet biscuit note. Creates a bright fresh flavor by using Alsatian Strisselspalt hops for a subtle lemon and grassy hop note. Another layer of flavor by aging the beer on a bed of Jasmine Sambac, a fragrant night blooming flower from Southeast Asia. The jasmine creates a delicate floral aroma and flavor for a complex and refreshing brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours bright and clear, short ring of fizz. Smell carries very light malt, almost like there’s corn in it, but I would guess it’s just the very pale grain. A bit of tea, too. Taste is nice and light, though. But the malts come in with a little bit more texture than the other mass market Kölsches. A touch of floral spice, some sharp bitter hop, and crisp finish. Another choice for a summer time beer.

Bottle from mix/box at Nugget in Woodland, CA. Pours gold with a few white, transient bubbles. Light floral aroma over light malt. Med+ body. Flavor is rather pale malt with some citrus and jasmine. Wouldn’t have got that without the description. Been a long time since I had jasmin tea. It’s fairly pleasant and has much more flavor than most kolsches. Just mildly bitter.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a rooftop deck celebrating my 30th b-day! Unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to have tasting notes for this one, and I did drink straight from the bottle, but from what I remember this was the best tasting kolsch I’ve had to date! Just really really crisp and enjoyable, nearly perfect summer brew and I hope to enjoy again soon.

Bright golden color, large bubbles, large foaming head that faded fairly fast. Lively effervescence. Light spicy hop nose, biscuity bready malts. Dusty lemony flavor, light almost bland, not as much character as the nose predicted. Doesn’t really taste like a kolsch at all but its alright.

Bottle. Golden beer with a whitish head. Light spice and light malt aroma with light mineral. Sweet malt and spice flavor with orange. Medium bodied. Spice and sweet malt lingers with caramel and light citrus.

Bottle thanks to Jcwattsrugger. Pours clear gold. White head. Nose/taste of white peppercorn, lemon zest and sweet malt. Light florals in the nose. A touch of citrus in the slightly dry finish. Medium body.

From a bottle, very nice pale lager presentation, fun to look at. Not much aroma, just crisp & clean and possibly a little floral fruty. Pretty sharp nearly pilsner bite for the initial taste, fades rather rapidly and enjoyably at that. Crisp session with a little sizzling co2 in each slug. Seems fresh. Quite breatuful lacing and co2 stream in glass continue putting on a show. Can’t really feel the effects of jasmine sambac in here. Rejuvinating finish with this kolshy.

Bottle. Light gold pour with a medium white head. Aromas have a bit of a grainy edge to them and a little skunky and herbal/grassy hops presence. Flavor is kolsch-like, but lacks a bit of complexity and intrigue. It’s got a decent malt body, but it is a little heavy-handed with the doughy sweetness. The herbal and grassy hops are there, maybe with a bit of lemon grass for complexity, but it comes across as a little bit underwhelming in a style that usually makes me much happier.

Part of the summer mixed twelve pack. Pours a deep golden straw color with a thinnish white head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells grainy, herbal with hints of lemon and maybe apricot, a bit of floral notes as well. Taste is bready grassy citrusy herbal. Creamy watery mouthfeel, medium to light body and level of carbonation. This is a light refreshing brew that seemed to go down rather quickly on this hot day. If this was in a six pack it might make it into the summer rotation.
