Cuvée du Château is a perfect beer for food pairing. The taste is similar to an aged Kasteel Donker that has been maturing for ten years with hints of port. Delicate hop bitters in the finish follow the initial hints of roasted and caramelised malt.
Cuvée du Château equals the taste of a ten years matured Kasteel Donker. The taste of the beer towards port. This "premier cru classé" was developed on the basis of a "quadruple". In this type of strong, sweet to bitter dark brown beer, the malt predominates. The Cuvée du Chateau has the characteristics of a maderized beer, with first notes of roasted and caramelized malt, followed by a delicate hop bitter in the aftertaste. A fully-fledged gourmet beer.

0.33 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', as 'Kasteel Cuvée', best before February 2030. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly fruity and a little vinous aroma of molasses, caramel, raisins, prunes, marzipan and light chocolate. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy, moderately fruity and a bit roasty taste of molasses, caramel, chocolate, raisins, prunes, marzipan and traces of overripe banana, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, a little warming finish. Full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Rich, complex brew, a pleasure to drink when it gets colder outside.

Mouth feel and carb are great. Low bitterness, loads of dark fruit, with some soft spice. It's Xmas in a bottle.

2012 edition, date of drinking 15-12-2013. Pours a dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark malt, dark fruits, plum, raisins, some chocolate. On the sweet side, mild finish. Best Kasteel beer I’ve had, proof that they can do it right.

January 2016: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11%. Colour mid between mahogany and ebony, moderate to low beige head. Lovely aroma, malty with strong notes of brown kandij sugar and caramel, also notes of dark dried fruits, hints of mild spices, leather and oak. Malty and medium sweet flavour, notes of dark dried fruits, brown sugar and caramel again, also hints of mild spices, chocolate and oak, moderate hops in the finish. Moderately warming mouthfeel. Excellent stuff.
