Like most abbey beers, it is refermented in the bottle which refines it and gives it a longer shelf life over time. It differs from the Belgian abbey triples by its low alcohol content (7.2 ° Vol Alc) but also by its slightly sweet and slightly malty flavor. Very thirst-quenching, it exalts beautiful aromas of hops and a subtle palette of fruity flavors enhanced with a hint of bitterness.

Bottle at home while "battling covid", finally after two years of probably narrow escapes. Clear golden color, creamy off-white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly citrus, light yeast, light to decent bitter touch. Not bad actually. Very useful tripel.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a hazy golden/amber colour with a medium sized foamy white head. Aromas of stoney fruits, apricots, citrus oranges. floral and a little spice. Taste is again more apricots, oranges and floral, a little sweetness and a little more spice. Mild fruity tang on the fairly sweet finish. Thin body with low carbonation and slightly watery mouthfeel. Could do with a bit more body bit still pretty nice and fruity. Not bad at all.

Cette Cambre triple me laisse perplexe.

The obligatory tripel in this 'Brussels abbey beer' series, though perhaps a bit on the light side for a tripel at 7.2% ABV. Thick and frothy, plaster-like lacing, egg-white, even-bubbled, regular and stable head, misty peach blonde robe with warm pale orangey tinge and swirls of fierce sparkling rising up from the bottom. Aroma of dried orange peel, peach, ground coriander seed, fried apple, melting powder sugar, white bread dough, sugared rhubarb sauce, ripe pear, banana, pineapple, honey, hints of clove, calvados, violets and cooked sweet potatoes. Spritzy onset, sweetish with a clear sourish edge (a tad more so than usual in this kind of beers but not the point where it becomes 'suspicious'); lots of fruitiness hinting at ripe pineapple, peach, pear and banana but not descending into bland 'bubblegumminess', strongly carbonated with minerally side effects but acceptable for the intended style; supple, rounded, full body. Sweetish, honeyish and bready maltiness with a thin caramelly edge, ongoing fruity esters but also a thin and subtle metallic 'zing' at the sides, spiced by soapy and somewhat tangy coriander seed while some clove-like phenolic spiciness develops as well; ends juicy and sweetish, but a dash of floral hops brings a touch of bitterness, as does a 'jenever'-like alcohol accent which fortunately remains well in place. A dusty-soapy coriander seed effect lingers alongside the malt sweetness and fruitiness. Quite classic, sweet and coriandered, very accessible 'tripel', clearly aimed at the large masses, but technically correct and enjoyable enough for what it is, like the other La Cambre beers.

21/XI/17 - 33cl bottle @ Horeca Expo (Ghent) - BB: 2/VI/19 (2017-1926) Thanks to the brewers for today's samples and my Ghent beer posse for sharing the glasses and keeping my liver sane. :p

Clear orange beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty fruity, quite some citrus, grapefruit, bit yeasty, some sulphur, lemony. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty fruity start, citrus, bit malty, some caramel, nice bitterness. Aftertaste: bit yeasty bitterness, sulphur touch, malty, bit spicy, decent stuff!
