Wet-Hopped Ale

Each fall, our brewhouse looks more like a greenhouse as thousands of pounds of wet hop cones arrive within hours of being picked by some of our favorite local hop growers. Acting quickly, we then load up these wet hops into what will become Harvest Ale – an impossibly aromatic and bright IPA bursting with fresh pine, melon and citrus notes. Our ode to the beauty that is the wet, American hop.

The best made wet hop ale out there. A hop head’s dream, this beer is exactly what an IPA should be. Piney and grapefruity, chewy resiny hops without it being annoying or too over the top. Delicious.

Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a cloud copper with medium frothy off white head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is pine, resin, and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with wet sticky hop and light citrus flavor with light bitterness in finish. Very good.

Finally got ahold of one of these thanks to blowOffTube! Pours hazy butterscotch amber, small off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma is light overall, dank, citrus, pine. Flavor is the same, quite dank, wet leaves, piney and resinous. Light sweet, light bitter. Medium body, oily resinous mouthfeel.

A golden ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with smooth floral hops, nice. In mouth, a smooth biscuit malt with citrusy and floral hops, decent and smooth. On tap at Iron Monkey, Dec. 31 2012.

21/I/13 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - bottled: X/4/12 (2013-86) Thanks to Rian for the bottle!

Clear orange beer, irregular white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, mainly citrus, pineapple, some passion fruit, bit sugary, peaches. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: a bit fruity, citrus, nice grassy hops, bitterness, somewhat piny. Aftertaste: nice citrus flavours, grapefruit, exotic fruits, dry bitter ending. Lovely brew, too bad it comes out in winter, because I would love drinking this on a hot summer day!

12 oz. bottle, sent from khoffman43 (thanks Kyle), pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Nose is very fresh, full of resinous, grassy hops, a bit of tropical fruits, and some caramely biscuity malts. Flavour follows, with grassy, zesty and somewhat resinous fresh-tasting hops, biscuity malts, ending on zesty citrus notes. Well-balanced and highly drinkable. Highly refreshing, fresh hop IPA. Great stuff.

Aroma has lots of grapefruit, lemon and pine resin. There is also a touch of an orange note. Light cracker malt character and low fruit esters. A touch of an alcohol note as it warms. Pours a slightly hazy light golden orange with a pillowy white head that has solid retention. Flavor starts off with some sweet citrus notes - lemon and orange. There is some cracker and biscuit flavor from the malt present as well. Mid palate you start to pick up more of a pine resin and grapefruit flavor from the hops. The bitterness is assertive and lingers as it dries the palate. There is a touch of hop astringency and the alcohol note is medium low. Little to no caramel to clash with the hops. Mouthfeel is medium to medium light bodied with moderate carbonation. There is a slight hop astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall this is a surprisingly enjoyable hop forward beer from the Midwest. It has a nice dryness to it and isn't too sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
