Kasteel Hoppy is a blonde speciality beer that fits perfectly into the wave of IPA beers (Indian Pale Ale). Thanks to the addition of herbs and the mildly malty character, the youngest member of the Kasteel range is not a ‘hop bomb’. Kasteel Hoppy is a full-bodied blonde beer predominated by the aromas of hops. However, the bitter taste does not dominate.

29/V/13 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: IX/2014 (2013-504)

Clear blond beer, very big irregular frothy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: smells like a pilsener? Some grassy herbal hops, grain, hay, stable. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty metallic, bitter hops, some citrus, grains, very pilsener alike. Aftertaste: bitter, just plain boring pilsener bitterness, pretty metallic as well. Seriously, this is not a bad beer, but it's boring as hell and could be mistaken for any plain Czech pilsener. Calling this "hoppy" proves that something is amiss with the amount of hops you regularly use.

Bright blond colour with nice lacy head. Flavour is quite metallic and has a fruity sweetness like apple syrup.

Blond pale colour, thin layer of white foam. Medium carbonation. This beer isn’t as sweet as the other Kasteelbier varieties but this isn’t hoppy at al. A bit medicinal and chemical. Dry, malty and bitter finish.

On tap at Gollem II. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of a foul semi-wet dishrag, swamp, cat piss, skunky hops, grain, very unpleasant. Flavour is grainy, skunky, dishrag, bitter grainy finish. Abysmal, as feared.

On tap at the Belvedere delft. Thick creamy white head. Clear golden blond pour. Slightly bitter and sweet. I was hoping for something more bitter with a name like hoppy. Stil a nice enough brew.

33CL bottle at Home, Aroma is hoppy, but the taste has almost no real extra hops in it, smelled great, taste mediocre... overall a good beer but I hoped for more as the name suggested ’’hoppy’’.
