(Draught at L'Ermitage Nanobrasseri, Brussels, 21 Oct 2023) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with coffee, chocolate, liquorice and lemon. Malty, roasted, tart taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, lemon, grapefruit and a mild roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and tasty, with an interesting lambic touch. Very nice.

Pours black, small layer of slightly tanned head. Scent is mild, roasty. Taste is roasty, light, dark chocolate and ashy grains. Lambic funk remains very hidden. Very decent, but would have enjoyed more lambic.

EB Quintessence Trip April 16-19. Dark sours are tricky even if they’re made by Jean van Roy.

Tap. Dark brown color with white head. Aroma is roasted, ash, nice funk too. Taste is the same, nice balance, good funk and roast at the same time. Now this is dark sour done right!

Clear black beer, small creamy beige head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice roast, some coffee, dark chocolate, very malty. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: soft acidity, good roast, pretty bitter, dry, some tannins, mouth puckering acidity after that. Aftertaste: refreshing, soft roast, dry, coffee, malty, decent one.

Tap at L'Ermitage. Dark brown. Coffee, earthy, dead leaves, soft funk, dry wood, berries. Medium sweet and sour. Quite interesting, though yeah it's a dark sour...
