Molenbier was one of the first beers ever made by our brew-master Menno Olivier. Although the recipe was tweaked over time it still is the same light sweet, medium bitter yet rather hoppy beer as it was intended to be.

Thx. to Sebletitje for sharing this one // 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Tim’s De Molen & assorted beers tasting // bottled on 08/04/2012 // pours a bright golden / light amber with a fluffy white head // smell is of sweet white bread, hops, sugar, fruits, sweet herbs & even more sweet spices, cheap American cheese slices & touch of yogurt // taste is yoghurt, sugar, American cheese slices, light vegetables, bitter herbs, lots of Molen yeast, flowers, thick baking floor, bakers yeast, herbal bitter // full Molen yeasty body // its weird but I don’t think that it infected or anything, Molen sometimes simply brews this kinds of herbal / spice / whatever beers & they taste like this, even fresh, prefect condition, whatever,… // its not my thing but I didn’t find it as atrocious as the others, just weird stuff

Hazy brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of cheese and malts. Light bitter flavour, hops, and quite a bit of off-flavours, fusel oils and medicine. Finish light hops and cheese.
Not sure what was the matter with this bottle, but it wasn’t really pleasurable I’m afraid. Might warrant a re-rate.
(From 33cL bottle at the DMT @ Tim’s living, Gent. Shared by sebletitje. Thanks, Seba!)

33cl bottle, shared with 77ships, Martinus and Tderoeck. Bottled on 8-4-2012.
