Originally rated March 2005. Pours an amber colour with a medium head, and some pretty descent lace. There is a slight aroma of fine malt and notes of hop. Taste is smooth, with a mild bitter edge in the middle and then it goes back smooth again. Not really an IPA, but a descent english ale for swilling times.

The Beer Store, Toronto 500ml can: Pours an amber colour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is of English hops and loads of malt. Tastes like a run of the mill ESB for the most part. NIce modest amounts of bitterness. High sessionability. Of course, as people have noted, this is not an IPA in the modern sense, but according to English beer nomeclature, it still technically is.

It’s not bad, but it shouldn’t try to be an IPA. Has only the mildest flavour, and the hops is virtually non-existent. This will be my first and last try of this one. Tall can from licbo

Canette 500ml.

Can drank at room temperature: Poured a light brown color ale with a nice big foamy head with great retention. Aroma of English hops are more present then expected with some nice caramel malt in the back. Taste is hoppier then expected for an English bitter with some noticeable English hops (cannot figure out which variety though) that provide great bitterness without any of the citrus characterized by c-hops. Body is about average and carbonation is low which is to be expected of. Better then expected.

2005 can at Mondial, 6/4/05. Pour is a clear golden, maybe a hint of copper. White head seems fairly creamy, and is somewhat retained. Aroma of lightly spicy hops, though they are faint. Some hay, some light grains, and then, some corn. Flavor is dry, lightly bitter and somewhat metallic. Little malt sweetness and surprisingly (or not, really) not a whole lot different from the canned lager they make. Quite watery, maybe a touch of fruits, and even some cabbage on the end. Dry grainy pale malt as well. Bubbly carbonation leads to a sharp mouthfeel. Medium-light body.

Nice amber coloured ale with a thick off-white head. Then its downhill. Canned opened, the skunk came out! Aroma is faintly herbal with notes of pines. But in mouth...the British Alexander Keith’s! Adjunct laced malt, with some german like bitterness. OK, a bit more bitter than AK, but metallic in tone.

At first pour from the can the head was a nice thick cream colour. The beer has a strong scent of malt and hops. The flavour is good with a good bitter finish.
