Dark purpleish pour, almost no head. Lots of caramel roasted malts and a touch of faint pine hops. Quite biiter with an almost cloying malty sweetness. The hops linger and are nice. The malt, and roast is over the top though.

Dark brown coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, grain, earth, bitter chocolate and a bunch of hops - nice and floral. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt flavours that outweigh the hops and show some grain, chocolate and coffee flavours as well, and near the end the hop grassy and floral elements come out. Aftertaste shows some hops up front with the bitterness showing from the grass and a little earthiness and roasted malt flavours bringing out the bitterness even more. Overall, a decent Black IPA with some good hop elements and a nice balance - not bad at all, and worth trying. I sampled this 500 mL ’montreal-styled’ bottle purchased from Depanneur Paul in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for CA$4,99 on 17-September-2016, sampled in my hotel room here in Montreal a few hours later on 17-September-2016.

Tasted in January 2012. Aroma: Slight alcohol with a touch of caramel. Beside caramel, not a lot of things in there. Visual: Clear black, no opacity. Small head, disappearing fast but creamy and with a nice lacing. Taste: Slightly acid attack with a touch of metal and some bitterness. Caramel is well felt and quite effective but that metal aftertaste is kind of unpleasant. Hops are doing the job but are not adding enough complexity. Soulless beer.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry hops with light green hops notes. Taste is mix between some medium roasted malt notes with light dry taste and some green slightly bitter hops. Body is below average with OK carbonation. This one is lacking focus and needs to be somewhat more robust.

A deep dark IPA with a thick dark brown head. In aroma, strong grassy and herbaceous hops, metallic, light biscuit malt with coffee notes. In mouth, a nutty malt with coffee notes, herbal hops, grassy, a bit strange, some astringent notes. Shared with GRM. Merci Sylvain.
