12fl.oz. bottle. From 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Pours an opaque, dark brown with a thin, short lived, tan head. Sweet aroma of Indian spices, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Sweet, spicy flavour of Indian spices, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and licorice with a light, boozy finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice use of spices. Unique and fairly complex.

Bomber - mostly black pour - soapy lace - nose heavy on the chai spices, along with some notes of bourbon, vanilla, some chocolate, coffee - it actually smells pretty nice, despite the heavy chai character - body is a little thin for the style and abv - couple this with the fairly well-masked abv and this is a little dangerous - flavor is very sweet, burnt sugars, heavy cinnamon and cardamom - some underlying chocolate and a hint of smoke - doesn’t come together in the flavor as well as it should.

Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong spice, chai, cinnamon. Medium mouthfeel with nice spice, ginger, roast. Good.

Bottle shared at BD Shep’s - London. Thanks, guys! Pours clear brown with a beige cream head. Big chocolate aroma with striking ginger. Medium sweet with nice chocolate character, more spicy ginger, some mint essence. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with light earthy bitterness, lasting ginger and cocoa. I really like when cocoa and ginger get mixed in a beer; I just think it works well.

Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Bottle share with Jackie, Simon and David. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Small pale tan head. A nose of potpourri and those nibbles you get waiting for your Indian restaurant takeaway. Palate is soft and airy with superfine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, little cream. Mild spicy floral flavours that follow the nose. Finishes light and soft. A pleasantly mellow spiced Impy that is also light on it’s toes. Nice.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a small, dense, firm dark beige head over a next to black body. The aroma has lots of coffee escaping the glass at first, soon getting company by molasses, woody notes and a pleasant spiced touch which somehow leads my thoughs to cloves. Ginger too is pretty easy to spot. Some chocolate as well, but that’s more evident in the flavor. Spices, coffee and molasses are the dominating flavors, both bitterness and alcohol are subdued. It’s full bodied and soft on the palate, very low on warmth considering the ABV. Lasting sweet coffee, molasses and spice finish. A very tasteful one, with a clever use of spices, but I’d say a 12oz bottle would be sufficient. 140514

22oz bomber pours with a nice dark body that supports a full tall mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up dark fruity esters like dates and blueberries along with cinnamon, sweetened ginger, a good load of chocolate and then whispers of dark roasted malts. The taste starts with some velvety dark chocolate and then it quickly picks up a thin dark roasted maltiness. To midway the sweet dark fruity esters come to the surface with a firm mix of dates and prunes to go along with cinnamon and ginger like spiciness. This is pretty nice but the fruitiness is a little too forward for me.

Bottle - Cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla and chocolate. Jet black with a rich brown head. Cardamom, cinnamon and chocolate. A nice drink that is a bit far from beer but nice.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 7/25/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, caramel, light coffee, cinnamon, clove, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, and roast/herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, caramel, light coffee, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, light vanilla, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light coffee, caramel, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, light vanilla, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced imperial stout! All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
