The recipe is based upon an original beer made by Whitakers of Halifax in 1937.
A smooth well balanced traditional ruby bitter. Five different malts including crystal and amber create a rich toffee/cherry flavour. Earthy Fuggles and Goldings hops combine in a smooth English character with hints of kiwifruit and toffee.
Great with sausages or a Sunday roast. Also good with mature cheddar.

Bottle from Kris Wines. Poured a hazy dark amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is dry yeast and malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a hoppy malt palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Fine for a session.

Clear dark brown - red - amber beer. Small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light, airy and slightly crisp. Smooth malt wit a little light airy cream. - semi dry. A whisper of something dark in the malt. Light citric hops, touch of piney lemon. Lactose malt in the semi dry finish. Not bad.
