Bottle. Muddy brown-black body, medium clumping ochre head. Inky, bitter, roasted nose with scorched sugars and caramely rum notes. Big, roasty body, bitter, tannic, with a long chocolaty finish. Stronger, less balanced, less sweet than some of CS' other imperial stouts but still very good.

Poured from bottle dated 11/5/14 nice black color with a creamy mocha head and nice lacing. Aromas of roasty malt caramel rum coffee chocolate and bourbon. Taste is creamy medium thin mouth feel as it is not thick and syrupy. Notes of vanilla rum followed by oak toffee and a nice lingering bourbon feel. Very nice.

Draught at Deep Ellum, Winter 2014.
Good clarity and a dark amber-chestnut body with a small, beige head atop.
The nose has a multitude of liquors ranging from spicy, lightly sweet to just plain boozy. Lots of oak/wood and of course don’t forget that Clown Shoes sugar. Caramel, vanilla and light chocolate definitely "balance" the dryness of the barrel/liquor, though it then becomes very, very strong with both the sweet and spicy/boozy.
In the mouth it’s more of the same. Typical huge, over-the-top flavors from this brewer, with too much of everything and little/no finesse. I will say, this was drier than most Clown Shoes big beers, though it’s still very alcoholic. Coconut, wood, raisins, dates, caramel and sharp alcohol on a somewhat malty, medium-full body with low carbonation. Ehhhhhhhh.....

Heavily roasted malt. A little sweet. There is some oak and alcohol. I am not getting rum or bourbon specifically. Lactose maybe? Good stout. Not tasting the incendiary rage.

Very dark brown color. The nose is somewhat sweet with rum, dark chocolate and roasted malt character. Very well integrated for 12%. Not too boozy. Quit chewy. Smooth well integrated.

22 oz. bottle. Dark black color with thin white head in a snifter. Light bourbon, mild rum, light roasted malts.

Body is somewhat on the fuller side. The density of the stout is thick and full. The rum barrel is on the stronger side and the bourbon is slightly on the milder side. Lots of woody notes. Actually shows a bit of bitterness somehow and that is completely unexpected. Pretty nice Impy stout.
