An interesting beer with a rather discreet side of rye, giving a smooth side, not so fruity for the kind of cereal, even though it is a generous beer with notes of rye, roasted malt, coffee, dry, aromatic with a final touch of hop, 10.05.21, at Epalinges.

(Draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 23 Feb 2025) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, pine needles and a touch of mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with coffee, dark chocolate, citrus, pine needles, mint and a balanced citric/piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, dry. Tasty and well made black IPA. Very nice.

0.33 l bottle @home. Pours pitch black with thick, everlasting beige head. Nose is chocolate, cocoa, slight coffee and some roasted notes. Taste is cocoa, chocolate, moderate fruits, followed by hoppy bitterness that is mainly present in the finish, which lasts long. Light body, creamy texture and moderate to average carbo. More pronounced hops presence wouldn't have hurt, but a decent brew nevertheless.

Bottle at home. Aroma is rye, coffee, roast, fruity hops, pine, bit citrus, touch of dark chocolate. Flavour is above medium bitter with a slight touch of sweetness. Body is medium, bit high on the carbo. Pretty good Black IPA, nicely roasty and coffee, palate a bit so-so.

Blik gedeeld met Roelzie. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een volle bruinige schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van gebrande mout, chocolade en hop. De smaak is vol, hoppig, chocolade en zoet.

Can from Foeders, drunk to celebrate a 4 ton cistern being buried in my yard. Yes i can water my hops plants all summer, and when the apocalypse comes i have brewing water. Very dark, with a large light brown head of various sized bubblies. Nose is very roasty, hints of brown sugar and citrus, a bit of pine. The flavor is really nice: toasted, coffee, malty, some resinous lemony notes. Not too dry, but enough black malt and hops to balance the moderate body. Not as much hop aroma as many black IPAs, more of a hoppy stout: right on!

That’s a crispy sharp perfectly balanced bitterness/roast black ipa. The rye is so mild. Just a good beer. Sterk ams
