1993 Vintage split between me, tderoeck & adamjackson (Tim & Adam) @ WoSF 2012 // bottle no. 7497 // bottle has a thick, solid layer cobwebs and layer of dust // looks like it just spend a century in ancient cobweb riddled basement (pretty much true) // neat // pours a darker shade of amber with no head whatsoever // smell is quite sharp, tart, lemons with a medicinal flair, mixed with health store “tea” & herbs // taste is bitter, herbal, mouldy, candy, reasonably tart with some herbal candy sweetness mixed up, tea, funky, tart/herbal/dash medicinal thing goes into a tad bitter finish, lemons // this is not muted, very clear, sharp & bright // substantial body, pretty much no carb. now // quite unique, don’t know whether the flavours described before were part of the original pallet but this is still very clear, sharp, dry, is holding better than you would expect at 19 years // not sure why they ceased doing this one, financial reasons, I suppose?

26/V/2012 - 75cl bottle @ WoSF 2012 (Opstal) - 1993 vintage bottle# 07497 - BB: IX/1999 (2012-548) Shared cost and beer with adamjackson and 77ships

Clear amber beer, no head, little bit of small bubbles. Aroma: pretty metallic, orange peel, bit dusty, some cork, some bretta. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: very sharp lemony sourness cutting through mouth and bone, little sweet, fruity, some bretta, mainly just sour. Aftertaste: very sour, little bitter, moldy cork, spicy bitterness and some pepper. Held up pretty good against time.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting @ the Harlequin. It is quite difficult to rate something so extreme for a style that I am not used at all. There have been some geuzes that I started enjoying, but this is so acidic and reminded me of nail polish. I hope I will have the chance however to try it again with a more sour trained palate

Insane bottle share by Brad at RBSG. Pours orange. White head. Nose/taste of lemon rind, vinegar, very funky tart fruits, orange peel and bready wild yeasts. Funk is very sour and full of intense vinegar. Medium body.

June 3rd 2011. 1992 vintage at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours hazy dark yellow/amber, with moderate carbonation and a thin fizzy white head. The nose is clove rock, light floral, light smoke, wood, varnish, barbeque, HP sauce, soy sauce, tamarind and farmyard. The taste is wood, sour lemon and lots of sour berry: redcurrant, raspberry, strawberry, red apple and blackberry, with a dry-tart finish. There is some pleasant alcohol warmth, low oxidation and high acidity in the finish. This has truly stood the test of time, the complexity and flavours are amazing and yet it is so drinkable. I reckon I could polish a whole bottle of this off myself. 4.4. February 18th 2022. Bottle 01909 consumed at home. This has held up incredibly well. Condition is exquisite. Much clean and vibrant. Quite a lot of bright red fruits....redcurrant, strawberry, watermelon and refreshers. Clean and no real oxidation. Balanced and moreish. Hard to believe that it is near 29years old. Exceptional.

1999 vintage, bottle number 03819. Major thanks to alen for pulling this one out. Purely amazing! Pours with a very small and quickly fading white head over a clear golden-copper hued body. Aromas are huge, funky, raisiny, slightly maderized, tannic, wet leaves, cork, stone fruits, white wine grapes. Tons of lactic acid acidity and some light acetic notes. Flavors are hugely, throat grippingly sour. Probably the most sour, yet not aceticly sour, beer that I have had. Acidic, funk, white wine grapes, tannins, light acetic. Huge fruit notes, lingonberries, peach, apricot, pear, vanilla, barnyard, dried stone fruits. Lasting acidity, medium funk. Light salinity. Very dry, medium carbonation. Slight tannins, quite puckering (acid). Amazingly long duration of flavors. Seems to have held up fantastically well. Truly, a mind blowingly good beer!

Sampled at the DC Epic Sour Tasting 2010. 1989 bottle. Pours a hazy, orange amber with a little cloudy white head. Still had bubbles after 21 years. Nose is bretty, grass, hay. Flavor is tart, light orange rind, light acid, lemons, spices, sour. Finish is sour, tart, dry. Very nice. Really easy to drink. You’d never guess this was 20 years old.
