A traditional English style brown ale with toffee notes and an exceptional malt backbone. Roasty aromas and spiced hops hit the palate up front with a finish of robust malty caramel.

Bottle. Pours dark brown white head. Nose/taste of grape, oxidized fruit, dark fruit and cardboard caramel - medium body. Maybe the bottle was too old?

12oz bottle. Filtered ruby amber-copper color. Thin, soda-like head. The aroma is mildly nutty, with lot of caramel sweetness. Leaning into what I’d guess it amber malt a little too much..there are cherry vanilla tones that I don’t really want or expect from the style..but as I sip, it grows on me. It is balanced, with a nice spicy hop accent. Not really nailing it, but an enjoyable beer, sort of antiquated.

It pours a thick dark brown, and gives a nice foamy creamy head that leaves a decent lacing in rings. The head is small and dissipates within several seconds. The smell is the malts with just a tad of coffee backed up nicely by some toffee. The taste is the malts again with just a bit of the coffee and the toffee. The palate is about a light to medium on the watery side. Overall, I like this beer. It may not be one of the best \"browns,\" but I still like this beer.

Bottle. Body is a thin looking medium brown with a somewhat smallish head. Aromas are toffee and damp soil. Flavor has a more nutty edge that is decent, but not very complex. Finishes fairly sweet.

Small thin layer of white head. Light lace. Nose is roasted malt. Taste is lots of roasted malt that turns into a nutty also walnut taste in the finish. Just the right amount of carbonation, has a velvety smooth mouthfeel. If you like brown ales, no question you will like this brew. A nice job from Bar Harbor. Would drink this again. 22 oz bottle shared by LiteWait.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Shop Rite - Hoboken, 2/24/11

Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, caramel, toast, earth, and some light smoke
Appearance: Cloudy copper-brown color with a smallish, bubbly, off-white head
Flavor: Malty flavors, some toast, caramel, and roast with slight steel notes in the finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it's watery and metallic on the mouth with average carbonation
Overall Impression: This wasn't particularly impressive. The pour is decent looking, the nose is alright, and even the front half of the palate isn't bad, but the finish is really the downfall of this one. The mouthfeel isn't really so great either. Overall, this one is pretty mediocre. Fairly forgettable. Color me unimpressed.

Clean brown with an off-white head. Lightly caramel, toasted aroma with a light earthy hop note. Thin body. Roasty toasty malts, caramel, light chocolate, some earthy hops. Easy drinking and it satisfies the brown ale desire. Good stuff.
