CORNET is an oaked, strong, blond Belgian beer (Alc. 8.5% Vol.). Its subtle touch of vanilla is achieved by adding oak chips during brewing. Brewed in honour of Salomon de Maldeghem, Knight in the 11th century.

Van de tap op 25-11-2018 in Bergen Binnen, met Jan, Arja, Suze, Jouke en M. Door mijn verkoudheid kan ik niet veel zinnigs zeggen over het aroma. Kleur, geel, wit schuim. Wist niet dat het abv hoog was, maar dat proef ik er ook niet aan af. Redelijk.

Bottle. Gold with a large, stable white head. Aroma of oranges, lemon curd, light dough, white pepper, mint (!?). Bittersweet with citrus and spice, crackers. Less of a cheesy note than suggested by the aroma. Booze-assisted lean to dry at the fairly bitter but not all that oaky end. Solid enough with some character.

Bottle from Mali DuΔan MatejuΕ‘ka 2. Clear blonde body, whit ehead. Sweetish aroma, raisins, vanilla, quite mild. Simple and nice taste, clean maltiness and barrel, perhaps some esters mixing with the wood-driven touches. Prickly carbonation. Simplistic but actually quite clean and tasty, especially for the abv!

Bottle at A l'Imaige Nostre-Dame. It pours clear blonde with a thick, foamy white head. The aroma is sweet apple, pear, melon, the straw, hay, grass, toasty grain, doughy bread and buttered toast. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, grassy, straw, toasty grain, peppery spice, floral aspect, citrus peel, oak, earth and a kick of alcohol through the finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Good deal of bitterness to it, which stops it from getting too sweet. Not bad at all.
