The base of this beer is Ongelovige Thomas. New American white oak soaked in Kenau has been added, which makes the beer much stronger and gives it a hint of vanilla. Because the wood is soaked in Kenau, the beer is named Jopen Thomas en Kenau.

Full-bodied flavour with vanilla, whiskey, oak, some roasted hints of chocolate and plenty of fruit (blackberries and brambles) because of the American hops varieties. Dominant smooth and fruity flavour the result of the new American white oak.

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of Kraddel.

Thx. to Kraddel / Dylan for this one. 75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2013. I assume that this was bottle 134/850 as well. Wow this one was a surprise because I didn’t have much expectations from this after the previous beers from them I had tried were max. it is ok. I suppose the “aging” masked the base quite a bit. Pours dark brown. Smell is sweet creamy mocha, woody, creamy, malty with chocolate, vanilla. Not sure what Keanu is but this carries the taste of a very creamy alcoholic beverage bit like kahlúa or something, sweet creamy with mocha, chocolate, vanilla, quite woody, dark sugar, coffee with cream. Creamy with less carb but that may be the handling. Tad enjoyable warming alcohol in the back.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Dark red-brown glow coming through a dark brown colored beer, almost no head. Smell malts, a bit sweet, alcohol. Taste malts, some sweetness, alcohol. Decently balanced, medium to full body, good carbonation.

no 134 of 850 bottle at home. very boozy, sweet, oaky (very oaky, fuck, how long had this been BA ? ) and complex nose . pour was brown, very small white foam, very fast dissapearing. carbo is good. realy not to much . makes the beer drinkable and joyfull. oaky, sweet beer, quad-style is very much there. somewhat dry as well. sugary , realy complex. no real aftertaste. this is a beer to have tried once, very intresting, rather unique. yet nothing i’d kill for ... accept, of course, i’d hate the guy. it would be a nice excuse... ;)
