Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear dark orangey brown with a tiny off-white head. Sweet roasty nose with a yeasty touch. Medium body, very low carbonation, sweet roast with a licorice touch. A little citrusy edge. A pleasant light stout. 180911

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Clear dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Light semi dry palate. Sweet dark malt, trace of coffee. Whisper of roasty malt. Mild minerals. Trace of fruit. Semi dry finish. Mildy bitter aftertaste. Ok easy drinking stout (more porter to me!)

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Black colour, creamy tan head. Nose is roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice, bit of fruits, cocoa dust. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, slightly sour liquorice, dark fruits. Fairly bitter finish. Really well done.

Cask at Bow Bar, Edinburgh, Scotland. Black colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of nice roasted malts, toffee, some hops, coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, hint of smoke, toffee, light citrussy hops, some coffee, chocolate. Light bodied, a bit watery but very tasty stout.

(Cask at Edgar Wallace, Strand, London, 19 May 2010) Very dark brown colour with ruby hints. Foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, dark fruit and raisins. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark fruit, raisins, coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of citrussy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some fruity sweetness. Solid and well made stout with a slightly fruity twist.

Cask via hand pump at the Mermaid, St Albans, UK on 10th October 2009. Deep ruby with an off white head of foam; little or no lacing. Coffee and burnt/toasted barley notes. Smooth, slightly aqueous mouthfeel but a satisfyingly dry finish.

At the Wenlock Arms - Dark brown color. Baked cake and chocolate nose. Mouth is like sucking on some brownies with a touch of hop bitterness. Chocolately finish with some light bitterness. Fairly decent.

Half pint from the tap room (gravity dispense) at The Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. A well bodied old ale with a pitch black body and just a few bubbles on the surface. Aroma of roasted malt. Sweet dark fruits in flavour supported by chocolate malts. Nice bitter ending (04.05.2008).
