Poured from 650mL bottle. Near black with small beige head. Dry light roast, tobacco, feint dried fruits (verging sour) and soy sauce, light oxidation. Decent, but a bit too aged.

March 2024 bomber drunk 7/27/25.
Clear, dark mahogany. Small, tan head.
Moderate bourbon, showing moderate wood, spice and light pepper, with lower sweetness and some long caramel and vanilla to balance. Good acidity from both malt and barrel. No alcohol noted.
Interesting up front as the brown ale nature of the beer is definitely expressed. Not a stout, not a barleywine. More hazelnut-caramel-toffee but with more toast than a barleywine. Yet no dark chocolate or big roast of a stout. It's malty, rich, bordering syrupy, with quite a bit of sugar, definitely pushing it on the sweetness. But the flavors are alluring and there's bourbon and wood dryness and acidity throughout, with no alcohol present. And some of the rich, thicker, softer texture is the oatmeal. Does have a drying effect from barrel tannin, on the finish. But I wish it was just a bit more dry overall. Interesting and flavorful, nonetheless.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Dave. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige head. Medium to big sweet flavour, fudge, roast, raisins, toffee. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Very nice.

CBJ Tasting. Thanks to Wingman. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Airy palate and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Fluffy dark chocolate, light but rich. Good fruity bourbon. Big coconut. Slightly boozy finish, and really, that's a good thing. Spiffin!

Bottle split at the Rar Date Tasting at CBJ, thanks to Kenneth, 29/02/2024.
black with a khaki cap that retains well.
Nose is coconut fudge, toffee, booze tunes, mellow roast, chocolate pot.
Taste comprises chocolate shavings, coconut, spice, dark malts, lick of bourbon, dark malts.
Full bodied, oily feel, semi drying close with a rising bourbon xoaked rip of booze.
Solid sipper ... brown ale ... you'd never guess blind!

Draught@TCBW2023. Black colour, small foamy off-white head, which vanishes quite fast, but leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, some plum, some figs, raisins, dates, chocolate and mild nutty tones to it. Flavour is chocolaty, some nutty, mild raisins, plum and some mild wooden and vanillaish tones with some dried fruits and raisins in the finish. Warms, but doesn't bomb you with alcohol.
