75cl bottle @ 12th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, April 15, courtesy of myself. Pours gold with a full bubbly head. Light spritzy aroma, soft wine-like notes.. taste presents light sour, yeast, lemon curd and bramley apple notes.. interesting fruitiness here but with a familiar chouffe-like element tying things together.

A golden beer with a big and blond head. Aroma has fruits and grapes, white wine, interesting. Taste has strong grapes, some sweetness, slightly grainy. Medium bodied, acidic, residual sugars. Strong white vine notes, that’s it.

28th April 2015: 0.75 litre bottle at a Shrewsbury Bottle Exchange Group meeting, cheers Mat for this one. Poured a golden colour with a white bubble or two that dissipated immediately. The grape element led the way with both the aroma and taste, the beery bit coming mid sip and towards the finish. I thought it interesting, it is a clever brew and one I would gladly drink again. Delicate and different.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie. Consumed at home. Easter Monday 6th April 2015 I poured this beer with absolutely no knowledge of what it was other than it was somewhat different (on the label name) to any of the other Chouffe beers, and I was therefore quite chuffed (if you’ll pardon the pun) to note very clear wine characteristics, albeit definitely sweet wine. Pours warm gold with a very slight haze, soft mouthfeel. Sweet and with a tart.... Owwwww, just rubbed my eyes after chopping chillies, arrghh...how often does that happen to me, schoolboy error. Back to the beer, it is described as a missing link between beer & wine and it is quite accurate in that respect. More wine like than beer on the nose, but the beery edge asserts itself more in the mouth where the 40% sweet dessert wine (Sauternes style) is reeled in by the Chouffe. I like this, it’s interesting, it works well. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7

Bottle, 75cl corked. A more or less clear one, golden in color and with a small, dense and diminishing white head. The aroma has a nice sweet fruityness, some grassy and piney hops, white sugar, canned fruits and a faint touch of alcohol. It’s a tad too heavy on the carbonation, full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate. Fruity-sweet flavor with lots of canned fruits, some peach and pine cones, and a little alcohol touch, some cellar notes and bitterness. Lasting finish. In general, this one hides the alcohol very well, it’s a bit sweet, but it’s a fine one anyway. Like it. 150228
