Bizarre compromise between sparkling wine and beer, since 2013, made out of 40% Loupiac must and 60% beer wort, with gastronomic ambitions. Snow white, coarse and crispy, quickly dissolving, champagne-like head, colour bright golden blonde. Complex, strange aroma of white wine, cider, cava, orange peel, apple sauce, coriander and minerals. Fruity taste of apple, white grape and fresh orange, cider-like sweetness, carbonation softer than expected, evolving from vinous to a bit more beery, finishing sweet but not cloying, unfortunately a bit watery as well, with no noticeable hoppiness. Interesting experiment and I am not against experiments at all, though I can understand its lack of ’beeriness’ divides opinions strongly.

Golden colour, white head. Aroma of white wine, malts, wheat and orange peel. Malty flavour, white wine, dessert wine, rateher sweet. Sweet white wine finish. Interesting, but too much sweet wine for my taste.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Clear golden. Fruity aroma of white wine, oak and a bit of tart apples. Sweetish flavor with white wine, fruits, oak and a bit of fruity tartness. A bit sticky. Nice, well-made and interesting.

75cl bouteille @ RBBWG III, thanks Tderoeck.

18/I/14 - 75cl bottle from Duvel Shop (online) @ RBBWG III, my place - BBE: 2018 (2014-105)
Clear pale yellow beer, aery bubbly irregular white head, unstable, dissipates immediately. Aroma: very sweet, sugary, almonds and marzipan, hint of orange peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very sweet, sugary, quite some orange peel, bit of honey. Aftertaste: sweet, tangerines, little sour, lemony, sweet, orange peel, little hoppy. It's not a beer, it's not a wine, it's ... whatever. I don't care anymore... Make some more Duvel Tripel Hop Citra, please! :p

Layer of white, very fast gone, over crystal-clear golden, big-bubbled but static liquid. White wine, spiced with fine herbs; hint of coriander, citrus, muscat and tarragon. Sourish (enhanced by CO² tickling) and a tantalizing glimpse of (fruit)sugars behind. Half-dried grapes. Again citrus, but just hints. Very spritzy feel, completely at odds with the visual stillness; Rather thicker density underneath, quite slick to not-quite viscous. Long, if mild sweetness, fruity - never sticky or cloying. Surprisingly excellent! And in contrast to what I heard, it isn’t either wine nor beer - but perfectly in between, and a bit of ’cidre doux’ thrown in for good measure. A success, IMHO.
