BB 07/08/2034, lot F. Nice thickness, really low on the carbonation, as I like it. Smell is funky goat. Taste is moderate sourness, bit of vinegar, but not burning or sharp. Some sweetness, goat, very soft, lots of oak. Aged very nicely.

Bottle at home from Ohtsuki. Lovely light golden orange colour with small white bubbly head. Aroma is nicely sour, very fruity, slightly tropical but with grapefruit sharpness. Only light funkiness/earthiness, but definitely comes through. Taste is differently balanced, lots of sourness at the start, real slap in the face then fades into something more fruity. Lot more funkiness in the taste than the aroma. The finish is more sweet and some of the flat creaminess that I associate with gueuze. Further down the sour edge diminishes a little bit, but it still starts with a punch. Quite different and pretty interesting.

Earthy aroma with oak, ctrus and apple. Sour and vinous with apple flavors. Not as deep and complex as Girardin or Cantillon, but certainly a very good traditional geuze.

Odd that I haven't rated this yet. Bottle. Pours clear golden (ofc getting cloudy toward the bottom), large white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is funky, lemon, dust, must, sweat socks. Flavor is light tart, light plus funk, Geueze. Medium light body. Solid.

0.75 l bottle from 'P&M Getränke', best before August 2030, cellared for almost five years. Slightly hazy, golden amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sourish, fairly funky and gently fruity aroma of ripe lemon, rhubarb, quince, horse blanket, oak and a touch of vinegar. Quite sour, funky, gently fruity taste of ripe lemon, vinegar, some glue, oak and horse blanket, followed by a medium long, fairly tart, woody-dry finish. Medium body, very astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Just as acidic as expected by Hanssens, maybe a bit less so compared to their fruit lambics. Nice beer actually, I was afraid of getting pure vinegar, but it's nevertheless not the most enjoyable Gueuze.

37,5cl bottle (bottled 04/2016) from Rob the Gourmets’ Market in Brussels. F: big, white, not long lasting. C: gold, hazy. A: nice funky, woody, bit brett, peach, bit sour fruity, grapes, white wine touch, barnyard. T: light sour fruity, funky, bit brett, woody, dry on the palate, green peach, yoghurt, very good for the style, medium body and higher carbonation, bit puckering, nice refreshing, enjoyed.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 23E). Bottle 75 cl - Batch unknown (Bottled on NOV.2016). AROMA: medium-high sour aroma (acetic) with slight barnyard and woody notes. APPEARANCE: gold colour and clear. medium-low white head with low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-high sour flavour (acetic-like). faint barnyard and wood notes. low bitterness with a dry and tartaric finish. PALATE: low body with low carbonation. overly tartaric with a slight astringency. OVERALL: an oude gueuze overly acetic (maybe too much acetobacter) and unbalanced with the absent malt.
