Bottle shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen 13.10.16. Ebony. Rocky pale brown head and lacing. Fine aroma of roasted malt, blackberries and a hint of vanilla and liquorice. Taste of liquorice chocolate, balanced by medium bitterness. Quite lively mouthfeel. Alcohol is not evident (in taste).

33 cl bottle @ home, old label, brewed at Sallands, probably between 2 & 3 years old. Opens with a hiss. Pours a black color. Huge light brown head, rocky. Aroma’s: sweet, roasted, red fruit, coffee, light chocolate. Retronasal it’s roasted malts, sweet, mocha, caramel/toffee. Flavor is moderate to full sweet, roasty, moderate bitter. Medium bodied. High carbonation (too high at the start, gushing in the mouth). Long finish with heavy roast, almost ashy, rather bitter. Definitely the best beer I’ve had from the kettles of Sallands.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours dark brown with some chunky floaters with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, spicy, coffee grounds, dirt, roasted action and varnish. The taste is bitter, earthy, dirty roasted malts, spicy, dirt and some alcohol heat with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A bit dirty and rough around the edges. Fair for the style.

Bottle shared in Watford - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a frothy, beige head. Light roast in the aroma, burnt sugars, cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavour, with charred molasses, dried dark fruits, raisins, baking cocoa. Full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, with more burnt sugar, roast, bitter dark chocolate. Pretty decent.
