Our IPA and Stout converge for a really great flavor combination to create a rich and robust black & tan. The assertive hoppy character of our Hoppin to Heaven IPA is perfectly complimented by the intense deep roasted flavor of our BORIS Oatmeal Imperial Stout. Two great tastes that taste even better together.

Pours dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, chocolate, citrus and grape. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

65 cl bottle @ home, no BBE info
Aroma has some cocoa, some ash, tobacco, hints of vegetables and vanilla. Flavour has resin, ash, vichy‐like aroma and some licorice. Probably not a fresh bottle (why can’t HF mark the dates somewhere?), but not bad still.

660ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen
Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of cocoa, light roasted malts, some fruits and hints of grassy hops. Taste is roasty and malty with some cocoa, chocolate and hints of fruity hops. Finish is roasty and sweetish with some malty and hoppy notes. Perhaps not very fresh, but still quite tasty.

Bottle at home. Has a black colour with a small light brown head. Fruity IPA-like aroma with a stout-like roast and coffee in the end. Theres also something sweet there. More coffee and roast in the flavour like a stout along with some fruit, peaches, leather, wood and dark chocolate. A nice soft and slick mouthfeel, and medium bitterness. A really good mix which is balanced well.

Very dark brown beer, light just passes through. Frothy caramel head. Light fresh palate. Fresh dark malt, a little lactose sweetness. Light chocolate and coffee. Minerally hops, not too bitter or fruity but a decent counterpoint to everything else. Finishes smooth with a little chocolate. Thought this would be bland but I was very pleasantly surprised. Fresh, well balanced and moorish.

650ml bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Almost black colored beer with a slight red glow coming through when held into the light. Huge brown head that diminishes pretty quickly. Smell malts, some roastyness, hops. Taste malts, hops, bitter, roastyness. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

This beer pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and citrus. Medium body with a roasty character and flavors of citrusy hops, bready malt and some pine. The finish is hoppy with a lingering citrus aftertaste. Falls closer to a Black IPA than a Black & Tan, but pretty good either way.

bottle. didn’t know what to expect - not like a normal black and tan - this using IPA and an imperial stout. Terrific robust flavor.

28/09/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (650ml bottle). Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Una "black IPA" ben bilanciata e gradevole. Molto buona.
