Tasting at Matt's
Black oily pour with no head. Strong notes of oxidisation, moderate notes of coffee, mildly earthy, with drier than expected mouthfeel, and light sour notes, dark fruits, more earthiness in the finish.
Sure, good beer, not a big fan of "sour" stouts though.

Bottle - Soured dark red fruit and lots of wood. Deep dark brown with a small beige head. Lots of woody notes notes with A long woody finish. Too much wood for me.

500ml bottle (thx, Tyler B.!) at Matt's. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is lots of wine, soury, some chocolate notes. Taste is very woody with lots of madeira and berries notes. It's quite good.

Dark brown. On the nose, some nice austere woody aromas, with a subtle vanilla notes, with some dark fruits, and tannins. Actually comes across with softer dark malt sugars, and then tannins, wood...nice and dry madeira character. This is a lot of fun because it pulls dark fruits and vanilla but then adding that austere, dry yet raisiny note from the madeira. Yum.

375mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is intense, with tons of madeira upfront, followed by bourbon, some wood, and varnish. Flavour has some varnish, with lots of madeira, followed by a touch of bourbon, and wood. Lots of varnish and red wine. Unusual, but I dig it.

A deep dark stout with a very thin mocha head. In aroma, dark chocolate malt with loads of coffee, licorice notes, molasses, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, coffee grind, musty character, alcohol warmth, very nice. Bottle at Big Deck tasting 2018.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with some sweet black chocolate notes with some bourbon and vanilla notes with some subtle dry raisins notes also noticeable. Taste is a wonderful mix of light roasted malt notes offset by sweet black chocolate notes, some bourbon and vanilla notes with subtle woody notes. The Madeira barrels also provide some nice port like notes with some dry raisins notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture with good carbonation. This is an excellent beer and probably a notch above the regular version.
