Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Pours clear black-brown with a thick, lasting beige cream - looks outstanding. Aroma holds some dirty pine and sturdy roasted malts. Medium sweet flavor with strong roasted malts, dark cocoa, dirt, burnt sugar, piney bitterness. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Some resinous pine bitterness on the finish, baking cocoa, very subtle dark malt tang, some scorched earth. Very rich and nicely rounded.

Opaque black - brown beer, big tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Mild dark malts, mellow smoke and a touch of the good rye spice. Nice citric hops holding everything together, pine in there as well. Semi dry finish. Nice beer. Like the combo of rye, smoke and hops.

33cl bottle from The Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Black beer with thin tan head. American hoppy aroma. It’s like an American style imperial stout to be honest. Good choc. I mean it’s fun and dry and choccy and big hops all over it and bitter on the finish. But is it any good? Just because you do a spicy rye impy dark beer does it require industrial amounts of hops? Yep entertaining definitely

Bottle at the Evening Star, Brighton. It pours near black, with a large beige head. The nose is roasted malt, hint of smoke, bitter chocolate and some dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, smoke (but not overdone), charcoal, toast, bitter chocolate, burnt notes, spice and a little alcohol warmth. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Robust and not overly smoky. A tasty porter.
