Bottled. Pitch black, no carbonation. Aroma of coffee and port. Very sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Sweet chocolate, black pepper and fudge. Port-like finish with evident heat from the alcohol. A velvetty smooth, but very sweet dessert beer.

Bottle. Pours pitch black without any head at all. Aroma is sweet with roasted malts and chocolate, as well as a whiff or two of tobacco. Full and creamy body, with no apparent carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts, grain, some dark fruits and molasses, as well as sugar and tobacco. Good brew, but no mind-blowing experience.

Opaque black beer, small tan head. Rich palate, semi dry with mild carbonation. Sweet dark malt. Coffee that tastes like espresso with a couple of sugars. A little whisky wood. Whisper of red berry fruits underneath before more coffee in the smooth semi dry finish. Rich sweet RIS, tasty!

Bottle. Black with a small tan head. What a suprise this one. Much tastier than expected. Vinous and complex with a lot of things going on both in the aroma and taste. I need another bottle. Once again an excellent Imperial Stout from Mikkeller.

Poured at home from a bottle into a snifter glass (Dec ’11). Very dark, black in colour, no head at all. Smells molasses, port/wine, chocolate, toffee, biscuit, sweet/sugary smelling. Tasted a little flat, no lacing as such, no head but did portray a wine like character in terms of ’legs’ clinging to the glass ! Flavours pretty much matched the smell, quite a sweet beer, a little to so for my liking but that didn’t detract from enjoying it. Chocolate, toffee, again a wine or port flavour, slightly spiced, coffee, maybe vanilla in the background. Sticky and full bodied on the palate.

Odense Catching Up on Stuff Left in the Cellar Event July 2012. Jet black with a small, light brown head. Aroma of licorice and dark sugar, a touch of fruit, and vineous alcohol. Sweet licorice flavour with quite a bit of sugary character, and a slightly roasted finish

Bottle on the Eurostar heading to Brussels for Paul’s pre-wedding beer blow-out. Thanks to James for this one. Pours jet black with a creamy, tan head. Dark and roasty, boozy chocolate nose. Very sweet flavor, lots of candied sugar, burnt sugar, dark fruits, alcohol, roasted malts and burnt wood. Full bodied with average carbonation - and very creamy. Hot finish with sweet chocolate, medium roast, some earth, peat, dark sugar, light bitterness. Pretty damn solid. Very sweet with nice, mild and lasting roasty cocoa bitterness.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours a pitch black color. Head is almost brown, with some retention. Aroma’s: hard roasted malts, sweet chocolate, alcoholic, just a hint of red fruit/berries. Flavor is sweet, chocolate, somewhat alcoholic. Alcohol is prickly. Body is full, soft, syruppy. Finishes with ash and a light bitterness. Sweet!
