500ml bottle from LCBO in Toronto over Christmas, drank at start of HK quarantine. Bottle came in cool packaging with art print. 2019 edition. Solid black pour with deep brown edges. Minimal head. Aroma is lush chocolate, some cherry, wood, vanilla, booze. Taste is big booze, dark bitterness, wood, leather. Soft plush palate. Rich but not slick. Really nice. Sharp bitter alcohol bite is intense but cuts through heaviness. Delicious. Quite bright for a barrel aged porter, in a great way. Definitely would get again if I ever see it.

Paid $19.95 for a 500ml bottle in a box with a art print inside. 2018 vintage. Aroma shows subtle bourbon over vanilla and molasses. Flavor is bourbon forward with chocolate, vanilla, molasses. Great body with a mild warming finish.

Dec 30, 2024 (8/4/8/3/15=3.8): Poured from 500mL bottle (2018 release - rabbit label). Black with small tan head. Soft molasses and vanilla with very feint bourbon. Decent balance, could have more bourbon. Feb 12, 2020 (8/3/7/3/15=3.6): Poured from 500mL bottle (2019 release). Black with dissipating tan head. A bit boozy with mild vanilla and roast and a touch of caramel. Lacks complexity and the booziness isn't supported by a flavourful enough base. Just okay.

The Aromas are fairly mild and balanced with dark malt, cocoa and hints of bourbon and Oak. Flavors are similar to nose mildly sweet with bourbon coming out a little bit more but not overdone. Body is full, chewy with great carbonation and slightly boozy finish but in a good way. Very nice beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of fudge, chocolate ice cream, nougat, icing sugar and sweet roasted malts. Sweet flavors follow same. Cannot get much barrel. Maybe a little alcohol. Not much to distinguish from a pastry stout other than it's a little lighter weight. Quite nice, but over-hyped and overpriced. Sorry I don't need a cardboard container and fancy picture...

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour, brown small head. Roasted malt aroma. Good sweet base, dark caramel, sticky lips; the barrel is evident mainly for the burning alcohol.
Not particularly complex, but very good.

500mL bottle, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma is quite barrel-heavy, with medium roast, lots of bourbon, a touch of vanilla, and alcohol. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of bourbon barrels upfront, followed by alcohol, and toasted malt. Really nice barrel character, with a nice bourbon finish. Excellent.
