Dark in colour but not in flavour, bright hop character with plenty of citrus and lightly tropical pallet combined with delicious bitterness backed with hints of coffee and chocolate.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light coffee, cheesy hops. Taste is more resin, very light on the roast, which I like in a BIPA. Finishes with a bit too much hop funk. OK..

660ml bottle. Black-brown colour, beige foamy head leaving lots of lacing and citrusy, hoppy aroma. Taste is roast malt, coffee, with some grapefruity citrus earthy bitterness. Tangy mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted & hoppy bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle thanks to SlackerMads during the IoW Jolly. It pours darkest ruby with a medium beige head. The nose is rich, juicy, roasted malt, orange peel, sherbet, tobacco and dark chocolate. The taste is rich, roasted malt, pepper, good deal of bitterness, dark chocolate, wood, coffee and some acidity with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather well-rounded and supremely drinkable. Great low abv black IPA action.

(Bottle, 0.66 l - BB 30 Sep 2014, 20131129) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and almost white. Aroma had pine, malts and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, saltiness, liquorice, burnt malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had saltiness, burnt malts and bitterness. A bit too burnt but the nice salty flavour saved a lot. Good beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a murky dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy light tan head. The aroma is spicy grass hop, roasted malt and a little chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter with a refreshing nettle hop palate. Medium bodied, average carbonation with a thin texture. Super refreshing and flavour packed.

650mL bottle, pours black with an amber tinge and a large lingering beige head. Nose brings out light roast, some metallic notes, and moderate dry hops. Flavour is very dry, with both roasted malt and hops acting in equal unison on this one. Not that intense in flavours, but rather subdued. Palate is bone dry, with fairly lively carbonation. Finishes on dry, roasty and slightly hoppy notes. Good stuff - just missing a little oomph.
