The name says it all...a full bodied India Pale Ale brewed for those that take their hops so seriously, they are referred to as ’Hop Heads’. Brewed year round since 1999, HopHead IPA is our Signature beer and was the first ’serious’ IPA to be crafted for wide consumption by a Canadian brewery. Considered risky business for a small Canadian craft brewer at the time, it is now considered to have been ahead of its time by leading the charge into brewing full flavoured IPA’s. Intense hop aroma with a complex malt/hop profile. Snappy bitterness with a very dry finish.

Malt: Pale, Light Munich, Vienna, Crystal

Hops: Perle, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus, Crystal

Initially part of the Raw Series: No.1

On tab at the Alibi Room, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Flavour is dominated by hops. Simplistic but refreshing IPA.

12oz bottle-pours a dissipating off white head and amber/gold color. Aroma is perfumy, sweet medium malt, pine. Taste is initially resin hops with some bitter, then some medium malt backs it up. Further into the beer some grapefruit/chewy/earth hops come thru. Nice easy drinking IPA. Medium body. OK/mild carbonation. Thanks voonder-Alex & jwc215-Joe for sharing this.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Courtesy of presario. Pours a clear, deep golden with a very small, off-white head. Very fresh, citrusy nose. Light - surprisingly light - body with some caramel, but otherwise completely dominated by the aroma hops with accents of grape fruit and peach. Dry and rather bitter finish. Very delicate. 211006

A hazy orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy and grassy. The flavor is sweet, somewhat hoppy, but extremely dry, and with an OK bitterness. It leaves a slightly alcohol burn in the throat. But inspite of the alcohol burn - the body seem weak. I like the aroma better than the flavor.

On tap at Railway Club, Vancouver. Copper with thin off white head. Dark Star Hophead like hop aroma. But far hoppier. Malt structure is good and then this very bitter/harsh hop on end. Fragrant hop aroma. Soft cream in mouth and then this burst of hop. I like the more interesting hop on this. Some toffee.

Dark golden, low head. Cascade aroma, pine and orangepeel. Medium body, sparkly mouthfeel. Good balance. Old rating: 8 3 8 3 14 Bottle. Amber, low creamy off-white head. Fruity sweet and resiny hop aroma. Cracker malt, fruity peach, grassy, pine overlay. Pleasantly balanced. very nice - much better than a VO-talk anyway....

Quite pale orange-amber; fluffy cream-white head. Hops, hops, gorgeous hops... Hopsacks, sweet cookies, raisins - and some cardboard ending in a real lemony nose. Hoppy, but not at all bitter taste, quite some sweetness, again cookie or cake taste. Lemongrass and lemonbalm flavours. Slight burning MF, but light body. Hopstaste gets metallic without bittering effect in the aftertaste. It is a bit simplistic, not quite balanced. OK, but certainly not "one of the most innovative beers in the micro-brewing industry" as they claim themselves. Thanks, Poperinge.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a medium foamy slightly off-white head. Aroma of cascade hops is clearly present with a nice touch of citrus. Taste is also characterized by cascade hops with a clear citrus touch and a quite bitter finish. Body is above average and carbonation is a bit low. Interesting take on the style.
