Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Nov 2024 review: On tap at Darby's Pub, pours a clear amber when a small beige head. Aroma is old school, with bready malt, English hops, toasted caramel, and a touch of resins. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of English hops, bitter pine, some resins, and a big dry bready malt backbone. Very dry and bitter, yet very English with that maltiness and the specific hop expression. Still great after all these years. 8 4 8 4 15 Nov 2009 review: 330mL bottle - pours a cloudy dark orange with a minimal head. Fantastic aroma of strong hops, spice and raisins. Intensely hoppy flavour, matching the aroma a lingering bitter aftertaste. Wonderful IPA. 8 4 9 4 17

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass better. Darker than exspected, nice creamy head. Starts very, very hoppy, quite dry and woody. Also grasy notes. Finish a little bit floury, still flowery-hoppy, very intense. Really good!

Aroma: Powerful nose of juicy citrus fruit hops and resin
Appearance: Hazy caramel color, foamy off-white head, and leaves a decent amount of lace
Flavor: Sweet matly flavor with balancing from a huge hop backing, a well made IPA
Palate: Dry finish, creamy mouthfeel, medium body, long finish, and nice all the way down
Overall Impression: My second beer from Dieu du Ciel, and they are 2 for 2 for sure! Between these guys and Unibroue I guess I need to drink more Canadian beer... Anyway, as for this one, I'm impressed! This is a beer I could drink a lot of, and at 6.5% I probably really could drink a lot of it. A very tasty brew for sure, well down by our neighbors to the north.

On draft at the new Pizzeria Paradiso. Sample from Orr - thank you. Light golden color, white head. Aroma of flowers and grass. Malt and caramel taste, nicely balanced with hops. Bitter edge and finish.

Bottle. Pine and citruspeel nose. Clear amber, creamy golden head. Delicate resiny hops on maple sirup. Light smoke, peach. Mellow light sparkly chewy mouthfeel. Peach retronasal.

(Bottle, Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with huge, frothy, beige head, leaving lots of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange peel, caramel, toffee and fresh hops. Fruity, malty taste with notes of caramel, orange peel, pine needles and generous amounts of aromatic, citrussy hops in the finish. More than medium body, rather sweet. Lots of taste, very nice beer.

Zipps tasting, Fall 2008. Hop aroma and flavor. Citrus and malt base. The hops are definitely dominant. Flavor has citrus, grapefruit and orange, and some pine, almost sweet, candy-like flowers.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange with a very small head and massive pine and resin aromas with a little pineapple and brown sugar. Flavor is a little too brown sugary sweet and finished with crisp conifer forest and alcohol notes.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a huge orange-beige head. The aroma was strong fruity, piney and resiny hops with a light tangy malt undertone. The flavor was bitter and a litte harsh with strong fruity, piney and earthy hops. There was a long piney and earthy finish. Fairly thick. Interesting.
