Bottle at RBESG 2007. Smokey, peaty. Ruby colour with lasting beige head. I love that. Rubber on finish too. Normally not a combination of flavours I like, but this was good.

500 ml bottle. Dark, dark red – almost black body with a nice beige head. Aroma is quite strong smoked. I find elements of smoked bacon and grilled mackerel in aroma. Very pleasant, you may enjoy the flavor alone for a bit before sipping the beer. Flavor is of course smoked malt, and very well balanced indeed between malt and bitterness. It’s also rather light in a way, but more balanced then e.g. Aecht Schlenkerla, which I find a bit thin. A real campfire beer to relax with.

Bottle, 6.3%. Salami-like smoke aroma, like good spegepølse. Quite dark brown colour, unstable head. The flavour is nicely smoky, quite like whisky. A little salty. Good mouthfeel and a very good smokiness. 8 4 8 4 18

On tap at The Rover, Gothenburg. Clear, dark brown beer with a beige head. Smoked aroma with notes of un-fried bacon, roasted malt and burnt malt. Sweet flavor with smoked malt, dried fruits and bitterness. Full-bodied, a bit sticky mouthfeel, and a long, bitter finish with a good dash of sweetness. A really nice smoked beer with quite a lot of bitterness, which is nice, in my opinion. (060824)

On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Dark chestnut colour, nearly ruby when held to the light. Amazing aroma of smoke, bonfires, seaside, tar and woodwork - but not the smoked sausage aroma of German rauchbiers. Smoke and tar in the flavour too, slightly drier than I would prefer, dusty / ashy finish. Not much else going on besides the smoke and tar.

Draught. Dark copper coloured, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is strong smoke and burnt wet wood. Same in flavour along with tar. Long smoked aftertaste. Reminds of the Schlenkerlas, but still not as "heavy" as those.

Draught@The Rover. Dark ruby brown color, small creamy brown head. Strong smoked ham nose. A bit sweet roasted and smokey malty flavor. Much lighter than Scherlenkas. Fizzy finish.(8/4/7/3/14 3.6)

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 14 Feb) Dark brown, nearly black, with a thick off-white head. Nose is smoky, tarry and a bit sweet. Reminiscent of burning juniper or spruce twigs. Full bodied with a taste of tar, smoke and leather. Very long finish, the tar and smoke stays with you for some time. Lots of cereal, like chewing on malt from an Islay malt whiskey distillery. This is a love or hate beer and another remarkable brew from this amazing little brewery that keeps coming with nice surprises.
